On busy mornings should spend more time reading detail.However if a phase 1 Covid 19 Vax and not enough community infection does make sense to use lab if not already booked.
This is possibly even more money as these long term contracts are teak revenue generators and the move from short term and hoc to long term major recurring revenue projects and this is 2 nd one now if I remember correctly then this is really good validation.
With these big pharma they choose the CRO based not on who is the cheapest as who is the best

Process of elimination so AZN have a big tie up with Oxford ChAd Vax and are into phase 1/2 so don’t need challenge studies like ORPH lab.Also they are doing trials in Brazil and Russia where community infection levels are still high.
GSK again are involved in manu scaling up of Covid 19 Vax so Initially rules them out.
BionTech have tie up with Pfizer and other major players are Sanofi and Merck.
Moderna have started their trials in US so unlikely to be them.
Normally when someone says major international pharma it could mean anything but when you say a big Vax player and also a top pharma the list is not a big one and all huge names.
I could probably go through the list of Covid 19 Vax and see at what stage they are at as would be needing ORPH lab likely for stage one.
But would prefer it just came out as I am presuming it is a Covid 19 Vax,think they also mentioned a therapeutic so could be working on virus neutralising anti bodies or a whole host of other treatments.
When my Company signed the Jan Agreement it just mentioned a Tier 1 pharma bit the name soon came out and I am hoping the same here.
Another possibility is it could be someone like AZN working on a 2nd generation Covid 19 Vax as there are certainly questions about how good some of these first Vax may be,.

Obvious you know nothing about pharma as standard practice not to release names but if you understood the industry you would know who the major Vax players so there are not too many so a short list but all very good names

Seems they are selling down all of the Link funds they bought.
Good news is ORPH should be the first to get rid of them if they are flipping

Interesting Acacia have done the same on 4 holdings I can see where they have bought Link stake and flipped them.

Future work will include testing Affimer reagents to other SARS-COV-2 antigens, such as nucleocapsid protein. Diagnostic assays to nucleocapsid protein may enhance sensitivity for detection of COVID-19 infection, since this is a highly abundant viral protein.

So this a real building story and great validation of the approach here.

Getting a universal flu Vax was a real “ holy grail” when I was at Sanofi and the issue of course is predicting in advance Which field strains are going to be the threat so for 20/21 the 3 strains are.

If you did not need to predict in advance these strains and had a Vax that worked against all mutations and antigenic strains just consider how much of a milestone this would be and yes phase 3 ready.

Yes the ST article a very nice reminder of some of the excellent facilities ORPH have.
One point to remind ourselves is to emphasise the importance of these facilities in the current environment.
Given the fact that community infection of Covid 19 is very low many of the potential treatments such as Vax or therapeutics need to initially tested by challenge to enable them to begin phase 1 trials.
Yes you can’t do this in large numbers but the unique nature of these facilities means that pharma will have little choice if they want to do U.K. based trials.
It will generate revenue but main benefit is the enhanced raising of ORPH profile amongst pharma community which is critical in doing other deals.
Similarly having a Tier 1 client list plus experts like John Oxford is paramount in getting external validation of universal flu Vax as the key players like Merck,Sanofi,GSK,AZNetc will be well aware of ORPH

Absolutely correct there will continue to be a big demand for all kinds of tests Antigen and Antibody and point of care and lab based.The best ones in each category and offering a USP will be the real winners.
The big winners will have to be accurate in terms of specificity and sensitivity that is a given when there are lots of competitors but a lot depends on
availability.distribution,price,convenience,rapidity etc.
There is a place for most of them but there are so many folk who are invested in other shares who seek to make their particular offering as being the only one that matters.
However there is so much more to ORPH with Flu Vax and many others.
The client list is very impressive and these contacts and having the likes of CF involved are not to be underestimated.
My own Company signed an agreement with ORPH earlier this year and they would not do that unless they thought it was a very serious and credible outfit.
