The decisions will be made as evidence accumulates but as we all know due to the critical importance of getting ducks in a row,then decisions like scaling up production are having to be made in advance of full data.
So when Ig levels are measured after first phase it is only at max telling you about 28 day immune response before they have to expand trial.
So still plenty of opportunity for SCLP longer term but they must get this initial work done or it does not get out of starting blocks

Am pretty sure whichever FRR entity the Outrider debt due in before the Georgia election is linked to.
Given the past events I am sure FRR can find some means legal or otherwise to delay this demand far beyond the due date if required.

Inanaco you are correct in reporting that the FIP ( coronavirus) in cats candidate was stopped.There is a commercial one that was launched and is still available but is very limited in efficacy.
So in cats as in others species Coronavirus Is proving much harder to prevent as compared to other virus,s like FeLV,Calicivirus etc.

Yes I have been there for 6 months and is a really good play.The spectacular rise has more to do with validation deals of the Affimer platform for Covid 19 tests.
They are also fantastic at communicating and attract both institutional and PI support.

Your initial explanation ties in exactly what a virologist said on the BBC a few weeks ago when this issue in SK was discussed.
He said it was not the tests that were faulty but viral particles were still being expressed from the original infection even after it had cleared up as the lungs had healed.

Agree LL that is the important bit the additional capacity to scale up.
Some of the pre clinical work of the Oxford Vax is not compelling.
But the critical bit for all Vax is the clinical results which there will be some before the scale up of the Oxford Vax May take place.
As for the SCLP approach we don’t have even pre clinical results and yes we need funding to generate them but until we get those we should not be comparing Vax imo as none of us actually know.

FYI,
My understanding is that if you are in current receipt of a UKRI grant you can apply for it to be repurposed in fight vs Covid 19.
You need Approval but should get it.

Anyway as Krafty said most important thing is to come up with a safe and effective vaccine vs Covid 19 and many approaches will need to be evaluated.
If it turns out that SCLP are able to make a huge contribution then all the better but imo more important about someone getting it right in devt of Vaccine rather than who is right.

I think me and Bermuda mean yes it was not Covid 19 but both MERS and SARS are types and of coronavirus and some similarities with latest strain so when you are starting off with experimental trials it makes sense to build on existing research of as closely related virus,s as possible.
I am nit saying this is the only approach but when time is of the essence I can understand why the govt decided to concentrate the efforts there initially at least.
Also do not want to reopen arguments but when you are dealing with a completely new viral threat do not be surprised if the first port of call In a crisis is to involve world renowned virologists rather than oncologists.
It is nothing about who is most talented just about specialism in the field

Agree Bermuda that Oxford were much further down the track than any other approach and the MERS experience would position it well
What I would be disappointed with is if the bulk of the investment was tied to the success of Oxford and Imperial to the detriment of any alternative approaches.
I have noticed a change in the optimism of the politicians and the early confidence of 80% COS from Sarah Gilbert Is not repeated by the govt and even talk of no Vax may come at all.
In fact the rhetoric seems to have changed to we are putting aside a huge amount of money so no one can say we did not put our full shoulder to the wheel In this matter.
So even if the science fails no one can accuse the govt of not supporting the initiative. I only hope they will judge all approaches on a technical basis rather than any other criteria.

Would like to know more about AZN govt agreement re manu the Vax And wonder if it is more about supporting the Covid 19 battle and would be willing to manu any Vax that passed initial muster rather than specifically Oxford or Imperial but know these are govt favourites.
That maybe where Mirror comment came from rather than a specific SCLP tie up we simply don’t know.
However these experts must recognise the potential failure of the Oxford Vax and as such find it hard to imagine they will ramp up production on something with a poor chance of success.
Maybe just the bar will be set low and any Vax will do as long as it proves safe,has some efficacy and can be produced quickly.

My previous main fear was there would be nothing left but now I have a nagging doubt that there may be something left but will the SH be getting any slice of the pie or will our only reward be to lock the dish out before we do the washing up
