You've said it all. Moya doesn't buckle to strikes. That's why she was brought in. To test the resolve of posties. You are correct. Posties don't want to strike, but we will. Not a single one has said they want to go out. And the part timers are on board. They do realise where these decisions will ultimately lead. 30,000 agency workers? Really? Have you any idea what happened the last time RM used agency staff en masse.

@mike1974. Some sense at last. It was never about Xmas. Now I wonder who is going to deliver all the items that RMG aren't going to should we go on strike? Apart from the scabs of course.

@ jonjo. So what has changed? An old bloke in a silly wig has said we have to go to more mediation before we strike. And? Nothing has changed apart from a date. Do you not see that? The ballot result carries for 6 months, so there'll be no need for a further ballot. And if you think sentiment towards a strike has changed, you are deluded. It has actually strengthened. Our ideals have not changed and they won't. Let's see what happens after Xmas. Do you think RMG management will "allow" us to go on strike? You need to do a bit more research. Maybe then you won't make yourself look like a complete tool.

It does affect you massively. Every detrimental change in pay pensions and conditions will affect you more than an oldie like me. I'm assuming your not anywhere near retirement age.

Can you tell me why you think the CWU proposals on pay, pensions and job security are not achievable? You appear to know plenty on the subject.

@ Arsenal. Gutted? What world do you live in? Nobody that I know wanted to strike but our hand was forced. Do you honestly think that external mediation work? After over a year of talks you think this will really resolve the issues? You're deluded. And i'm afraid that you will see what RMG management really think about posties and the public after Christmas should this mediation drag on.

2 letters from RMG to the CWU received on 6th October. The first states that the AFG agreement DOES NOT STOP members from taking strike action. It does however say that the external mediation process has not been fully exhausted prior to calling for IA. My take on this FWIW. After nearly 18 months of talks how can the mediation process not be exhausted? Where do we go from here when our esteemed CEO does not even turn up for discussions? The second alleges that the CWU failed to take reasonable steps to notify the members of the ballot result. I'm completely lost with that one. Both letters required response by noon today and to withdraw notice for next weeks action. The CWU have responded by saying that strike action will not be withdrawn, and following legal advice will defend our position in court. Since then there have been 2 further communications from RMG. The first to notify the CWU that RMG will now apply to the court for an interim injunction in relation to their claim on mediation. Secondly, RMG have withdrawn the legal challenge regarding our alleged failure to notify our members of the ballot result. So another concession then. LTB today.

@ callerone. A pension that I have contributed to considerably. A pension that I was told was guaranteed. Lets not forget, posties did not take a 13+ year pension holiday. And my earlier post still stands. Please explain why you agree with the illustration. You are so knowledgeable about all things RMG it won't be a problem. @ beatroot. Just two of many things our learned friend has missed. Lets see if he can point out the others. I doubt it.
