@ jonjo. I wouldn't call 60,000 (can't quite remember the figures) blue collar workers " THE MILITANT FEW ". Would you, jonjo? Does your earlier post include managers? The very ones who "might" be asked to strike? I think your problems lie with unions. You come on here shouting your mouth off. Dinosaurs, militants, blah blah blah. @ soup. No idea. Maybe people are doing their crimbo shopping earlier. They may be worried in case of industrial action just prior to xmas. That 29% for Friday was a figure given to me by a manager. That includes letters and flats as well. Long may it continue.

@ dip. Traffic today in my office was 29% higher than forecast. They use previous years figures as a guideline for what it should be.

I hope I get bitten as well. 3 weeks off work. Full pay. And the owners taken to court. I get compensation for loss of earnings (overtime that is), trauma etc. I end up quids in for a bit of pain. And the dog or cat gets put down because of the stupid owners inability to control their pet. What's not to like?

I'm pretty sure we've seen the bottom now. All aspects of the strike must surely be factored in. Mail volumes have increased massively in the past fortnight. All points to a bumper Xmas for RMG. Despite possible IA.

@ madas. Totally agree. Just putting it into context what is achievable, in what is perceived as a normal working week. Some on here tend to forget and think everyone should work themselves into the ground to earn a good wage.

@ beatroot. Posties about 26K in London. Acting managers about 28K and lowest level line managers about 31K, from what I've been told. They're very secretive you know. FedEx: So about 800 drops a week assuming �1.00 per successful drop. Based on a 40 hour week that's 20 successful drops per hour. Or 1 every 3 minutes. Really? I think i'll stick to my current job. 30 grand after a bit of overtime. Decent pension, sick pay and conditions. @ Arsenal. Can you please explain why i'm a hypocrite.

I've just heard through the grapevine that Unite have written to their members informing them that talks regarding pensions,pay and conditions have not been fruitful. It would appear that Unite are exploring the WiNRS proposal put forward buy the CWU as a viable solution to their own issues. They are not happy with their pay offer (less than 2%) which has now been put on the back burner until other issues are resolved. They are also unhappy that their members may be asked to do the work of staff who take part in strike action; ie go out on delivery. And the watering down of redundancy packages It would appear that Unite might ballot their members for IA on a range of issues. Lets see if the management stand up for themselves.

It will be interesting to see if RMG are actually pro-active. They've already stated that mediation could take up to Christmas and beyond. The very nature of that statement tells me that they are only interested in getting Christmas out of the way. I hope to be proven wrong on this, but I see no deal this side of Christmas. Will RMG then walk away from mediation? Let's see.

I believe she also attended a meeting with the CWU last week. Apparently the meeting was scheduled for an hour, but went on for several. I wonder if she's getting slightly concerned?

@ Numnut. So "Very physically demanding". "Rounds are getting bigger". "They keep messing with our hours". So In your book you're stating facts, not moaning. I agree But Whenever a militant dinosaur states these facts we are told to accept change. This is the way things are. Every other company, some much bigger, have accepted change. Go get another job. in talks tomorrow with the agreed mediator. This will be interesting. Will RMG concede a little more over the next few weeks? I think so. Our stall has been clearly laid out.

@ Numnut. Share price will eventually go up when all these issues are resolved. All things good about RMG you have listed. That is and never has been the issue. I will now accept any derisory offer to my pension. I will work 16 hours a day, running around like a headless thicken, for less pay. @soupthicken. Your post Friday 8:02. Pullinger says he will smash Royal Mail to bits. That would be be funny if I hadn't read it in THE SUN about a month ago. The fact that you mention " THE TELEGRAPH " does not give it any more credence. After THE SUN article, I believe Pullinger denied any such statement.
