The CWU has rejected another RMG pay offer which increased the lump sum from £350 to £550. (Very odd where they are getting all this extra money from). Consolidated from April by 2% and another 2% from next year and an hour of the working week (2.6% ish for that hour). The external mediator (who RMG was so keen on using) has recommended 2.6% backdated to April flowing through to allowances. Pay remains unresolved and subject to further negotiations. Arsenal / jonjo. Your expert opinions as shareholders please. All this must be detrimental to your future "earnings". Update 3 to follow. The shorter working week. I know some on here think we should be working longer days with more flexible hours, so we can provide a good return for the shareholders. But do any of you (Arsenal / jonjo) know why we need to implement a shorter working week? That's for tomorrow.

I'll post the update about the pay offer tomorrow. I'm giving the anti-militants time to digest this "in principle" agreement It's amazing what can be achieved with just a little thought. That's all it took, when i spoke to my fellow workers about the original offer from RMG, and they realised how badly off they would be in the future. I'm so glad Arsenal, jonjo et al are not our spokespersons. I would suggest that these people fully justify their 6 figure salaries and final salary pensions. Where would we be without them?

@ PP. I think it's reviewed quarterly. Before promotion, companies in the 100 have to be below the mcap of the top 110 companies for 2 quarters before they are "relegated" to the 250 and the company with the highest mcap then gets promoted. I think. I could of course be wrong.

Talks have been ongoing for 2 weeks without the mediator. CWU negotiators are optimistic that we will have a good agreement at the end of talks. PENSIONS: Significant developments. During all previous negs RM refused to agree to 1 pension for all. During negs that the mediator was facilitating, RM agreed to the "principle" of 1 scheme for all. The following has been agreed: A) 1 scheme for all. B) All basic pay and pensionable allowances will count towards pensionable pay. C) Significantly benefit those who joined after 1987 (ie; me). As the 1st 4Kof their basic wage wasn't pensionable. It will be now. 88,000 out of 93,000 in the current DB scheme will benefit. D) All DC members will be in the new scheme and will for the 1st time have their pensionable allowances count towards their pension. The scheme will be a collective defined ambition Pension scheme which will guarantee a wage in retirement (WinRS) with an element of shared risk. All in all it looks promising. I'm glad that the advice given out on this BB was never adhered to. We really don't have to be slaves to the company we work for. Just because we are a PLC does not mean we have to give up everything we have worked for, so shareholders can sit on their arses and cream off the profits. The concessions already made by RM are huge. Update 2 to follow regarding pay.

@ Soup. Believe it or not, I thought TP was being overly aggressive towards the end. Nice to see some passion though. I think it's clear that if any offers are not acceptable we will definitely have a new date for IA. I'll get around to reading the mediators report in full eventually. Not just skimming through. I just can't help feeling that this is all about crimbo. Get this out of the way and RMG may think that the posties may feel they have lost their bargaining power. Hope I'm wrong though.
