NCYT doesn’t have an antigen LFT (unless they have a big surprise for us) and there must have been a conscious decision not to pursue this. I think the reasons for this are likely to be competition, margin and possibly longevity. Innova’s has been purchased as we know, and isn’t very accurate however it has been used and presumably has and will take out of circulation infected people who might not otherwise have had a test. I think a much more accurate LFT will be available soon though and then more reliance could be placed on them, It is unlikely to match the standard of PCR however, it is important to note that they can’t deal with mutations in the virus, and once covid is ‘defeated’ the market is likely to shrink. NCYT, IMHO has its eyes on the bigger prize of long term diagnostics to deal with an array of diseases/conditions and the PCR machines are the key to this long term plan.
