Regardless of impact on NCYT this is very good news, it was so scary that they were relying on these tests to allow visitors into care homes, a disaster waiting to happen.

I’d also say, purely for a photo, the massive Panther machine makes for a much more impressive shot that screams ‘lab’ than a little Q machine (though we know its size is a strength) - so photos may be harder to find!

We have seen the Panther machines in pics before. It’s unrealistic to think that ours would be the only testing equipment being purchased, as has been said many times, demand is surely outstripping supply for all of them. So yes, a (US) competitor but I don’t think it’s a cause for concern.

And Oughtred and Harrison definitely don’t look like they would supply testing of any kind, seems like they convert the units from vehicles into mobile facilities. And it specifies the purchase of the units, I’d imagine they would be useful near hospitals in the longer term to try and keep potential covid cases out of hospitals (or keep at risk patients requiring other tests out of hospital?)

I understand it as EMS providing the units that can be fitted out as required for whatever testing is necessary...have I misunderstood and they offer the full service?

Troublesome, just pondering ‘who else could it be’...well there’s a tender award just announced for EMS’ mobile units. But curiously no companion award for the testing itself, so presumably there is already a mandate to spend with a particular test provider... who else has this already in place other than PrimerDesign? And who else might be able to offer staffing of the units, something I assume the NHS would be hard pressed to do? Surely there can’t be too many contenders?

Befcasr I asked a similar question a few days ago and there was no real answer from anyone. Looking across AVCT, ODX and here, there’s a general frustration with lack of news and I’m beginning to wonder if DHSC may effectively be gagging companies from saying anything until they are ready. Also tenders appear to be allowing for spend rather than committing to spend if that makes sense? So the £406m seen in bidstats for PrimerDesign may not translate into a full £406m so can’t be announced until it is complete? Gives DHSC a lot of flexibility in what they actually purchase. This is just me trying to get my head around the tenders and announcements..could be completely wrong!

I see that schools in Wales are all switching to online learning from Monday, something Boris will want to resist for England, so adamant is he that schools will stay open and exams go ahead. Mobile testing units might help!

Looks like London will be tier 3 next week, numbers up again, all this before the Christmas mixing..does not bode well for January and beyond

Please can anyone clarify, do we actually have a time frame for the tender awards for this to actually be announced? Could we end up in a similar position as with the £406m, where we know there is a potential spend but no idea what actual is until complete? I find the bidstat stuff so confusing
