Isn’t there a condition with DHSC that NCYT can’t sell any cheaper to other customers? Have to also assume they would get a better deal for such bulk buys than smaller private contracts? I’d have thought they almost certainly charge more but couldn’t guess at how much more.

That makes 3 articles (this, my Lucira one and the interview with Roche CEO) today with so much shocking news from the US, the numbers of cases and the speed at which they are rising is terrifying and the whole handling of the situation is a mess. NCYT could surely sell all the tests they could make there - in particular the need for portable NPT is acute due to the spread of the populace, so many in locations far from major medical facilities.

Also from the article ‘one of the most serious issues bedevilling efforts to identify people infected with the virus [in the US] is the inconsistent access to reliable laboratory testing in many parts of the country’...sounds like they need some portable solutions...Versalab/OpenCell?

HarChris, in the medium term (2 years or so?) I can see it as a possibility, whilst the effectiveness and roll out of vaccine is assessed, but beyond that, assuming they will get better at treating covid, maybe it becomes just like flu where if you are low risk and would prefer to take your chances rather than have a vaccination then you carry on as normal? There would presumably be occasional outbreaks but these would not put excessive strain on healthcare as we see now.

I'm not looking for a fight gggg, nor do I believe it is insider trading, because I don't believe that at the point they dealt they had received official confirmation of stage 2 of the contract. In my opinion, confirmation of stage 2 is price sensitive and will be announced once confirmed. If you believe that they wouldn't, because it is normal course of business and within current expectations then we have a different view of its significance. I guess time will tell!

This has nothing to do with close period of 30 days prior to results. If it’s in the order book then yes of course they know. This second stage is specifically carved out though and has dates for confirmation/activation. Based on the broker forecasts if nothing else, I would argue that confirmation is definitely price sensitive and as such would need to be disclosed via rns once received. If BOD had received official confirmation and not announced it, then dealt in the shares, then they would be acting on/with inside information, and breaching AIM rule 11 by not disclosing that information.

It would be insider trading if they knew (as opposed to hoped and strongly believed) they had the contract extension, which is what I understood when you said ‘why would director be buying if phase 2 wasn’t incoming’

Chrome I wasn't asking for a price prediction, I was asking would the news be likely to move the price, that is what the company and nomad have to judge - if it is likely to be price sensitive then it should be announced. Hard to argue that the price wouldn't move - the brokers' notes (often used as a measure when considering whether an rns is required) specify that if stage 2 is activated then that would give a very different valuation of the stock from stage 1 position!

Chrome you are correct - but what, do you think, would be the effect on the share price if they announce an additional £250m order from DHSC? Do you think anyone would disagree with your view>

RNS has to be released when price sensitive information is known - I think there's no question that this piece of news would qualify.

Simple, yes you would think so and that is why it seems that this is not yet official news. My interpretation is that it gives DHSC the scope to increase the value of the contract up to £406m from the original £150m but they haven't yet confirmed at this point how much of that will be ordered. It seems, based on the tweeted extract from the contract, that they will need to give a more concrete indication of that by Monday.. ShaunP would you agree?

It's not really complicated Airlineboy...if as a director (or insider like the consultant/wife) you want to deal in the company's shares you have to ask 'do I know something that the market does not, such as an imminent announcement or an important deal agreed but not yet signed and announced?' AND 'do we know we are announcing annual results within 60 days?' (30 days for interims) - if the answer to either of these is yes, you cannot deal. If no, then its fine. We all know of the possibility of the contract extension but we don't know for sure if it is going to happen, presumably neither does the BOD. And you can't withhold psi when it arises because of prior dealings by directors.
