The obsession with selling is that we BP investors have been livingnwith an underperforming shareholding for years! Thisnmay be a UNIQUE opportunity to get out at a healthy profit, and to rebalance our portfolios with purchases of other shares which will recover when the price of crude returns to pre-war levels, whichnit must do eventually.

Nothing to say that BP may be a great future buy when the price inevitably drops.

Ideally, we want to sell at the peak. However, nobody knows fpr sure where that is, alas.

So why not sell some at 550 pence (or whatever price you choose) and set a limit order to sell some more at, say, 560 pence? This way you take profits all the way up.

One reason given for the attack by the USA and Israel is that Iran was on the verge of having a viable nuclear weapon and the means to deliver it. Assuming that that is true, despite being questionable, an attack could NOT be justified on that basis "years ago"! If Iran was nor ready now, then it was not ready "years ago'.

Yes, it seems clear to us both that the entire Iranian border with the Strait of Hormuz and maybe even the Persian Gulf would need boots on the ground on the beach head and for some kilometers inland too. The US President would probably not stomach that. Even bombing Iranian forces along the beach facing the Strait of Hormuz would be only a temporary measure, as drones and missiles are very mobile.

I think Trump is waking up to how tricky this has become. I suspect that killing all the top leaders was enough for him to believe that it would lead to regime change, especially after the recent street demonstrations.

This is looking like a long operation if the current Iranian government holds firm.

It seems that Trump has refused a ceasefire, which I am amazed about if true.

Unless therenis some unexpected surprise, this uncertainty will run for many more weeks. Crude oil proces will edge up higher, and so will the BP share price.

Will ship owners risk their assets (and lives of the crew) if they cannot het or cannot afford the necessary insurance?

Similarly, will insurers provide cover at all if the risk is unknown, say, because nobody has gone through? Even if they were to sell insurance cover, would it be affordable to the ship owners?

How is the UK "subservient" to the USA? What does Brexit have to do with it? Would Sir Keir have made a different choice inside or outside of the EU?

My answer is that a subservient UK PM would have helped to attack Iran, which it has failed so to do, despite being attacked in Cyprus!

On matters of defence, the EU is almost completely irrelevant, as these decisions are made by each national leader/government.
