Crude is up a little, but the BP share price seems to be doing even better. How come?

I am resisting selling any more of the balance of my holding as I suspect that this chaos has much further to go. Perhaps at 570p I shall reconsider. The current price is not bad, but there is more to be made here, surely! Am I too optimistic or greedy?

The Iranians do NOT have access to the Internet! It was cut off when the Iranian people were protesting in the streets recently.

Personally, I do not believe that there are any significant talks ongoing. So, I fully expect crude prices to be way higher at the end of the week, if not sooner.

Why do you believe that crude would stay over $100 per barrel even of it all ended now? Surely, within a month or two, the proce would be heading quickly towards where it was beforehand?

As for the proce of crude,nI guess it depends what price you are looking at! From what I have read, it would appear that the cash price of a barrel of crude is way higher than the futures price.

God forbid that Iran would launch a dirty bomb on Israel (or on anybody else in the Middle East) and Israel (or the USA) responded wirh a nuclear attack, but would that then be the end of the conflict and markets would return to normal, or would the markets over react?

I am puzzled as to whether this armageddon would endnir escalte things...thoughts, anybody?

Ate you sure? I have vague recollections of somebody trying such an approach on Pinochet when he visited the UK when Thatcher was still the PM. The House of Lords let he leave. I do not remember the details but he probably had sovereign immunity. Somebody can fill in th3 details.

I am sure that to avoid a diplomatic incident, the PM would tell the US Presidemt NOT to come if there was any such possibility.

Yes, the Iranian leadership may be that desperate. However, they are NOT completely stupid! Whilst a dirty bomb would cause issues, now and for a long time going forward, the Israelis do have a nuclear weapon or more, which seems an open secret. Tehran would be flattened forevermore.

The USA is not a signatory, so US Presidents face no fear of War Crimes trials.

I suspect that neither will blink.

Trump will carry out his threat, and Iran will attempt to lock down the Strait of Hormuz, if it can.

Just got home and I see that President Trump has given Iran 48 hours to open the Strait of Hormuz fully, or face its power plants destroyed, starting with the biggest one.

This announcement/threat tells me a lot! Firstly, that the USA does NOT fancy the task and does not believenthatbthe Europeans would or could it. Secondly, assuming that the Iranians realise that in this matter they have the world by the short and curlies, this is going to go on for a while yet.

I really do not see how crude can drop significantly in price whilst the oil does not flow out of the Statit of Hormuz. The question is how long will it take to open it securely? This could continue for weeks and months.

I had a quick glance of the news before bed to find that Iran's military was able to launch medium-range missiles at Diego Garcia despite the heavy bombardment that the country has sufferred by the USA and Israel.

The US and the UK have a military presence there.

Will this drag the UK into the fight?

Does this show that Iran has more fight left in it than Trump would care for us to believe?

That does not sound to me like we are anywhere near the end of this! The US President is considering winding things down once (unknown) objectives are met.

Okay, say they ARE met at the back of next week, I do not believe other countries are in any way ready to get the Strait of Hormuz open , and then keep it open. It would not take much military firepower for Iran to hassle and interfere with shipping traffic going forwards.

Plenty more oil price rises here.

Perhaps the USA does not use the Strait, but its populace would feel the effects of crude prices kept high when going to refill their cars at the gas station,
