I had about £8,000 of cash in my SIPP, as the balance renaining from recent profitable sales of BP shares.

I invested half just now in BAT, as it was down today.

However, I did something that I should never do normally...I reinvested the remainder in BP shares as I think that the fall today is overdone and unjustified, unless the market knows something that I do not. I hope it gets back to 600p tomorrow...

It is not known for 100% certainty that Israel has a nuclear bomb, though I suspect that it has.

Yes, I am stating that Israel is not taking any chances regarding a regional neighbour which has spent much time threatening to destroy Israel. If Iran does not yet have a nuclear arsenal, then , I guess, we have the USA and Trump to thank for that.

As for your claim that Iran does not attack neighbours, tell that to the government and people of Kuwait,, Dubai, Saudi, Arabia, the UAE et al who have been attacked, despite no provocation on their part. If you do not accept that, then Iran has funded and supported other groups to do the fighting for them, by way of proxy, such as the Houtis, for instance.
