Why the big drop in the BP share price today? Is this due to profit taking? Or is this a mere pause after a big rise on Thursday before further rises next week?

Are you asking if BP would have a special dividend? There is every chance of an increased dividend, I suppose. However, with the Board having been forced to stop own share buybacks and with an ambitious target for reduucing the level of debt, it looks to me like any extra spare cash would be prioritised towards repaying debt and, perhaps, resuming own share purchases. With all the uncertainty in the oil world currently, jt would also make sense to build up an even bigger cash pile buffer to act as a contingency against bad news and events.

I thought that only a takeover attempt of BP plc would ramp up the price. Never saw any of this coming.

Has all this current disruption stopped any takeover bid or is it more likely or, made no real difference?

I have 1,000 set to be sold at 592p. The next 1,000 is at 622.51, so I can have some rest!

Mind you, I have been sitting on poorly performing BP shares for years, so it is not entirely undeserved...

I had set two limits to sell 1,000 shares of BP each at about 562p and 572p, thinking the latter would take days. To my very pleasant surprise, they both went through today!

I have therefore set another 1,000 shares to be sold at 582p and 592p. The first of those is already within reach!!!

I think that I am not thinking big enough! Perhaps the next level has to be a fair way into the 620s so that I can have some peace from setting limit orders.

I am surprised that non-oils have not fallen enough yet to trip the buy limits that I have set.

Just had a look at the futures price. at about 00:15 GMT, ot was up again to $110.15 per barrel.

Hopefully, it will keep this up by morning, for BP to have another proce increase.

Wars are caused more by politics and interests, than by religion. I am struggling to find religion as a main cause of wars like the Second Workds War, the Korean War,, the Vietnam War, the Falklands War, the Gulf Wars etc etc.

With reference to Russia...it has lots of nuclear weapons and the missiles to launch them. Therefore, nobody is ging to mess with them.

Managed to sell a few more BP shares as the ambitious sell price that Inset was reached comfortably!

Next limits set at 562.5p and 572.5p.

With Brent futures up a lot today and the cash price much higher still, I think they will both be reached. I hope!
