"When S4 goes down dramatically on no news, you blame the LSE, lack of liquidity & general state of affairs in the UK, then on the next post you seem to suggest that the UK economy has nothing to do with S4. Make up your mind mate"
You're not even making the simplest of connections, Jcj. The LSE is shiite because 1. ostensibly the European traders have been fleeing the LSE, slowly but surely, since Brexit became reality and 2. the remaining market particpants have decided that investing in the US markets is the only way to deliver alpha. The numerous stats about the stock valuations on the LSE plumbing the depths are pretty open to note. There is no balance in terms of stock price bounces after a sell-off - it's a perpetual one-way street downwards until there's 'positive news' by which time stock valuations go atrociously low and cause pain to holders leading to the likes Vanguard selling out. A healthy liquid market like the US markets provides that cushion due to the sheer number of market participants in it - not so on our shi*tty exchange. How is that difficult to see?
Out exchange is shiite not just because the economy is shiite, there are not enough participants who can provide liquidity. Is it any wonder no one really wants to list on this garbage of an exchange anymore? S4's financial fortunes of course have little to do with the UK economy. But we're in the uneviable situation where MS doesn't currently want to list on the US markets and I still don't know what can force his hand in this regard. That is certainly one thing that he can do to course correct the SP and that's my biggest gripe with him.
The Tories only paid lip service to boosting valuations/liquidity and nothing they put out came to fruition - British ISAs being an example. Labour has shown why they didn't deserve to come to power with that economy killing budget - maybe that's hyperbole, but isn't too far off reality. I despair for the UK economy and the markets. However, S4 has a very good chance to transcend the shiite UK markets once Trumpster takes over the Presidency. So say the US CEOs and I can't disagree.
