RR is full of gaps created on the way up and I don't hear talk of them being filled. This sell off is nothing to do with gaps!

So much for optimism! Looks like the market is determined to smash airlines again. Will Trump's tariffs really do so much damage to transatlantic revenues? I think this drop is way overdone. The P/E ratio is heading back to the 5s! Meanwhile RR has a P/E of 25! 5 times as much. Crazy!

Seems like events are transpiring against IAG, what with the warning from airlines in USA that their domestic numbers would be lower for the first quarter (although they didn't include international flights in this), the Barclays downgrade, Heathrow fire (and an admission that the fallout will cost IAG 10s of millions) and the CMA investigation into IAG and others potentially having to cede some capacity on Chicago, Boston, Miami routes to make for fairer competition. Almost a perfect storm of negativity. Hopefully this week we might get some positive news to help the SP. I mean the recent results were great and the outlook too, both reasons to be cheerful!

I guess the positive here is that the CMA see BA making a lot of money on these routes, hence the decision to open up some more competition but with aircraft in short supply I can't see a new comer being able to do too much damage to BA's bottom line.

Good point avocet but making any money on EZJ is just impossible unless you know how to trade, which I don't! There's just no justification for it to be at £4.59 unless people are dramatically curtailing their flying habits. Are they? Judging by the market it must be so.

Lots of shares crashing today. The Donald's tariffs' effect I suspect. The market is clearly overreacting but that doesn't make it any easier when one's portfolio is getting hammered. We've had COVID, X2 wars now tariffs and a potential trade war. I guess it's not been a great decade for investors. Will it ever improve? It's certainly difficult to remain positive.

But then we have the tariff induced market turmoil to contend with!

I suppose the advantage for easyJet is that their planes are going to these destinations anyway so it's a bonus to potentially add more customers who want a package and easyJet flies to a lot of destinations that the more specific holiday companies don't, so should have more scope to increase holiday specific business. Mind you the market is clearly not convinced as yet!

With a US GDP of $30 trillion compared to the EU's $20 trillion and no growth, partly through its protectionist policies, I know which economy I'd align with!

If the UK pull off a trade deal with the US or just avoid tariffs, this will fly (pun intended) and I think they will get a trade deal. If they do, Rachel Reeves could be saved from an otherwise pending economic disaster so there's a big insensitive for them to get it over the line. Could happen soon.

I remember an analyst for JP Morgan called David Perry, insisting that RR was only worth 70p as it began its ascent and stuck doggedly to this until the game was up and he finally conceded it was worth £2.80 or something! Wonder why the short is still open, given the recent good results? Are they hoping for a tariff hit to the SP? Seems an odd strategy when most observers hold the consensus view that the SP should keep drifting upwards based on firm progress towards Pru's 2027 performance targets.

Putting the boot in with their downgrade to hold and 600p target yet they upgraded RYN to a buy and lifted the price target to €25! On what basis is easyJet not performing as well as RYN? I mean did the "researchers" even consider the huge upside potential of easyJet holidays? It just seems that the EZJ SP is being manipulated and this latest crap from Deutsche Bank lends some weight to that suspicion.

But if the UK government can get a trade deal and I think they will as Trump loves the UK and has business interests here, it could spare UK PLC from taking a tariff related hit and would definitely benefit IAG as business trips between the 2 countries would surely increase! If it happens Starmer might even secretly thank Farage for getting Brexit done!
