I don't very often get it right Roy but I just can't see any enthusiasm for airline shares until the next stage in the Israeli, Iran conflict plays out. I'm really angry at having to sell much sooner than I had planned.
I dumped my entire holding this morning. I had intended to hold these for years having bought in during COVID. I'm completely gutted that the nutters in the ME forced me into this but the looming threat of an Israeli attack on Iran's oil facilities has been playing massively on my mind. If that happens then this will fall back further and I just can't afford to take that risk anymore. I will buy back once the picture becomes clearer but totally pi**ed off at being forced to abandon my investment strategy because of the age old ME hostilities.
Thanks for the friendly advice robleo. It's good to get an honest perspective. Sometimes it's easy to despair in the present without giving enough thought to what the future might hold. I'll certainly take on board what you've said. I mean, I did sell some last week and bought more IAG and look what's happened there! See what I mean about getting it wrong! My only bright spot today was PRU, my second largest holding where I'm still in loss! Wouldn't it be great if VOD did 4% up in a day!
Seriously contemplating selling daniel. Wish I'd done it a few weeks ago when this was briefly in the high 70s. I will admit that I suffer from indecision and have a tendency to dither when it comes to selling stock. I'm always paralysed with FOMO having had a few bad experiences (e.g. selling RR way too early) but I do think it's becoming increasingly clear that VOD is a dud. I might pluck up the courage but with my portfolio in turmoil thanks to the ME problems, I'm unsure what to do for the best. Who said investing was easy?
Imagine a world where the good people of Iran live in a democratic society where women have equal rights and can wear whatever they want without fear of being beaten to death. Maybe the long-term solution to the current problems will come from within Iran itself. One can but hope!
Saw that. So according to them, there's virtually no upside left here at current valuations. Seems a tad pessimistic to me given the collapsing oil price which is looking like it will be sustained. That's got to be a catalyst for more profits to come and therefore a higher shareprice. Seems odd Bernstein don't agree.
As we sit day after day at 75p, one wonders if the 3 Merger gets sanctioned by the CMA will it have a positive effect on the shareprice? The market has clearly decided that VOD has reached its maximum valuation so I don't think it would create any significant uplift although if it fails, the market will surely punish VOD! This is fast becoming an investment bereft of any imminent upside. Meanwhile, Margherita et al are raking it in! When is enough enough?
I remember lots of Fool articles appearing about RR before if really took off. They nearly always said they wouldn't buy! Let's hope the same happens with IAG. I think it might once the madness in the ME and Ukraine settles down, which might come sooner than you think 🤔
How can a shipyard with the largest dry dock in Europe, acres of space and amazing infrastructure, including the heavy lift iconic cranes, be a basket case? Too much is being made of the financial situation. What's a few million against a potential contract of £700 million. There was ample scope for a plan B but obviously certain parties did not want this. It had/has the potential to be a significant player in ship building once again, given the right backing.

Looks like the Labour government are going to completely destroy H&W as a viable ship building entity. It seems completely perverse when the aim is apparently to build up UK ship building capabilities not reduce it further. At least the Spanish will benefit! You couldn't make it up!
