As previously highlighted Box office Mojo showed c. 45% revenues for July v 2019 levels.

AMC basically confirmed they had witnessed similar (45% so far in Q3)

smalltrader what AMC actually said was:
Compared to 2019 levels they saw
Q1 13%
Q2 29%
Q3(so far) 45%

You "may" have mistaken it for what Adam Aron said was when they take into account the capacity used/useable they saw:
Q1 41%
Q2 61%
Q3(so far) 68%

This is VERY different from saying they were running at 61% of 2019 levels and improving every quarter.

Classic thanks for focusing on 15% or less of the business ;-)

Jonnykipper, hard to see it being too messy as the company is still trading and has not run out of money.
Everyone knows what we were running at losses when closed.
When we re opened.
What our liquidity at start of year was.
That we have gained access to further liquidity.
We have not been in court yet with Cineplex and a major out of court settlement in their favour that could/would cause us liquidity issues would near certainly have been in press somewhere.
So I don't expect that.

Other that games being played on the weak it's hard to see it being "messy", by that I am talking large double digit percentage falls.

I would say no to 55p predictions for today.
In the coming days/weeks it is possible, after all we saw 56p just 3 weeks ago.

Not a huge concern for any LTH that have done their own research prior to investment and ongoing research.

BC, I wasn't comparing share prices as we all know the differentiators there.
I was, and we can compare businesses as trading entities.

Seperatly the Cineworld "cheaper" debt is pre covid. Our expensive debt secured is during covid tea when we were facing severe liquidity issues, all documented on Cineworld reports.

Yes we are open in full, so too though are AMC for example.
I would assume those running that company are not completely inadequate so will also have made adjustments to business (maybe a bit less or better than we have, who knows!?).

Industry figures from Box Office Mojo for example and reports from all others that have recently reported disagree with your comment volumes are back to normal.
Unless Cineworld have somehow taken a considerable share of the market from our competitor's then we simply can not report volumes back to "normal".

It's fine to be optimistic and also to want certain things. However that doesn't make things so.
We have reports from our competitor's and from total box office numbers.

Fairplay coming back and admitting your error.
Cineworld is still not without its risks (the share price if nothing else tells us this).
There is a fair chance of good returns in time though I feel.
Well surely every investor feels whatever investment they make has possibility to give them returns that are favourable. Be that SP growth, dividends or combination of both.

BC, If EVERYONE knows it is only going to get better from tomorrow how does that in anyway explain low volumes?

What part of both of our most directly comparable competitors reporting losses and not expecting to be cashflow positive before Q4 earliest leads you to the view we are running cashflow positive in large scale right now?

The last two sets of accounts were negative, so does that mean positive this time sammy? ;-)

Both recorded substantial losses and attendance levels below Cineworld's base case scenario.
Fully expect Cineworld to also record substantial losses for the period.
Increase in demand from zero or near zero is/was a given.
Similarly to bonkers I do expect/hope for further future recovery and a good future for the business and is shareholders.
Not right now though.
A LOT is still to be done.

Rick that one ticket sale wouldn't cover the additional costs of being open v being closed.
So NO it is not 100% better.
A company with a high debt burden and not holding the levels of liquidity of for example AMC's. $2bn then loss making results ARE bad regardless of how some may wish to dress it.

First half was bad and results will show that on Thursday.
It's the rest of the report that is the important unknown for now.

Have we added/going to add further highly profitable theatres (we already know like AMC we took over couple of the Arclight chain).?
Is the Cineplex case about to be agreed out of court favourably?
Just how big an uptick are we experiencing in last few weeks in attendance v awful first half year?
Have we agreed further studio deals yet/about to very soon?
Are there any particular ways the business is planning to improve liquidity further/reduce debt Do we have confirmation of further support should we need it from current lenders?
Have we made/about to make any new beneficial partnerships, agreements with e.g. NFL, basketball, hockey to show their games live?
Some less likely:
Have we had a solid approach from a potential buyer?
Do Jangho or the Chinese government want to give us a free couple billion ;-)

Bulk trading can you define your idea of "bad" regards the results.
As I think most reasonable posters here fully expect them to be substantial losses (but less than last year and importantly giving a more encouraging forward statement).
