Pooled PCR testing is still used successfully at Cambridge University with up to 10 samples pooled into one test. It was first introduced last autumn with testing results provided by the Cambridge lighthouse lab that Novacyt supplied . Since the lab closed in april 2021 Excalibur Healthcare have taken over the PCR lab testing. Novacyt also supply Excalibur.

B2HS2L, there were two new jobs posted on CK Jobs yesterday and another last week. One of these roles is for a Technical Operations Lead -PCR Manufacturing, whose duties will include liaising with the r+d team on the technical transfer of new products and technologies to the manufacturing team.

I see the UK Health Security Agency are on a recruitment drive for Core Technology Scientific Advisors to work on bench top validation of new covid testing tech . Interviews are at the end of this month and successful applicant's will be on three month contracts till 31/03/22 . It looks like the existing staff are struggling to cope with the vastly increased workload that the government have placed on them.

Wilson63, as far as i know the Winterplex text is split between two reaction tubes . One tube contains the test for covid and the other has the test for fluA, fluB and RSV.

Just a thought on Co-Prep .The name was published in the trademark journal in september and there are still a few days to run on the 60 day objection period . Could Novacyt be waiting till the name is fully registered before going ahead with the launch.

Currently the latest mutation of the Delta covid variant AY.4.2 is being found in an increasing number of sequenced tests in the UK. During the last two weeks the number of AY.4.2 cases has risen from 6% to 11.3% . Scientists predict it will become the dominant strain in the UK by January. They also add that this mutation of the Delta variant is 10 to 15% more transmissible , but so far they don't know if it's more dangerous.

WBA, what are you finding to be the most significant upper and lower respiratory infection's in your area besides covid at present?

A significant amount of new jobs were created in March and April for new scientist's . The description for some of these job's stated they would be working on developing new tests and reformulating existing ones .The latter are quite possibly PROmate version's of some of their existing non covid respiratory infection tests. Seven to eight months on there should be a growing number of tests that are in various stages of clinical trials.
Could there be some additional non covid PROmate tests to accompany the launch of Co-Prep?
