Why would there be any updates when she is months away from her next scan? It won’t be of any significance at all by that point, because the market focus will be on cohort 2 as a whole - but also on cohort 3. People should just let her get on with her recovery - one hopes there will be enough news through official channels to excite everyone.

I’m always very relaxed about people trying to sell short in shares I own. That is particularly the case here because the potential upside on a six-month view is a very big multiple of the downside - and we know that short sellers will ultimately have to cover, magnifying the price impact of any positive news.
In this case, I’d guess there will be a board meeting in the next 2-3 days that will consider matters such as the Modi-1 trial progress, the Covidity trial results (and partnership proposals) and perhaps a Mabs deal - and a multi-product update RNS will be forthcoming in the next 7 days.

Positive news on all fronts would be transformational for the share price outlook, especially as, over the next few weeks, every stock-picking fund manager and institution will be looking hard at their portfolio for the next 12 months .

Buy/sell indicators are misleading rubbish. In fact you have just demonstrated that there is a seller below 26p....which is proven by the bid subsequently dropping back (with perhaps more to go?).
Hope to get an RNS update in the next couple of days - if not, there will be further drift.

….this story prompts me to wonder: Given the attention paid by the BBC to patient-specific cancer cures (which, by definition, are slow and very expensive to achieve), what attention would be paid to something that could be a relatively low-cost and broader cancer cure? Or something which might have preventative or early-stage potential ?

Bookmark that article. It is useless rubbish. In the 23 years I’ve been aware of Motley Fool (and I used to post regularly there) they have NEVER recommended any share they deem to be speculative (ie one which doesn’t currently produce profits). That didn’t stop me investing in one such share that Motley Fool dismissed out-of-hand and having the opportunity to make about 80x my initial investment. It has funded my retirement quite nicely.

There is a massive body of existing data on the effectiveness and side effects etc of the “standard” treatment for cancers of all sorts. Why not simply create another body of comparative data for Modi-1 which can then be compared directly with market standard treatments? Better results and/or lower side effects risk should lead quickly to a new standard treatment (Modi) without having endangered any patients along the way by use of known ineffective treatments.

Surely the question isn’t “does it work?”? The only relevant question for the trial (as opposed to an economic assessment for NICE approval) is “is it better than what we’ve got?”?

I see the author is Alan Oscroft. If I recall correctly from nearly 20 years ago, Alan would freely admit to knowing nothing about oil and gas exploration (my focus area at the time) - and a reading of his piece suggests that R&D in the health care sector is another area he spends little time on researching.

Nobody would claim it is easy to understand sectors like this (without being an industry specialist - and even then one can get it wrong), but there are fundamental points to look out for. In the case of Scancell, that is the central importance of T-cells to the research.

With an update on Modi-1 trials imminent, it is worth having a look at where the industry have hitherto assessed immunotherapies for cancer treatments: eg

If patient 1 turns out to be typical in terms of response, these articles counselling caution over effectiveness and speed of action may need some heavy rewriting…..

More than double that gain tomorrow, I think, assuming an RNS that backs up the news. There simply won’t be sellers, since the market cap is still only £220mn…

I’d just note that Scancell have said that they will update the market this month. That being the case, nobody in their right mind would put out positive news in an RNS after about next Tuesday (because liquidity disappears very fast from the market pre-Christmas) - so I’d say tomorrow is now favourite, with next Monday second choice.
I don’t think they can sit on it after today.

To be fair to Ottensmeier, he is the lead clinician on the Modi-1 trial and he was wheeled out to make a live presentation by video link to the Scancell AGM last year. He was extremely enthusiastic even back then!

Though it would be useful to have the expertise on tap for all of those you mention, that could be done via a NED appointment. I would want a Chair who is highly regarded in terms of driving the commercial strategy of the company - and that means someone who brings a lot of commercial connections.

The requirement for an RNS isn’t wholly driven by the science. There is a need to prevent a false market in the shares - and a clear risk that information about the trials will leak outside the company’s control. The NOMAD will advise on that.
I’m expecting an early announcement for that reason. And maybe another before year-end or early in January.

I’ll just note that, though many seem to have “bought the rumour”, the facts have yet to be presented - and so cannot be sold, or bought (for that matter).

Many (including me) expected an RNS today, primarily to avoid leakage of information into the market via a known back channel to the trial. However, if that was stopped up some other way then there is no immediate time pressure.

Some may very well interpret that as hiding bad news or some other disappointment, but I’d think it is really just a matter of assembling the data from cohort 2 (and possibly some initial comment on cohort 3) in an orderly, scientific, fashion.

So, if people want to sell, they should go right ahead - because they won’t get back in at the same level when the RNS news finally drops.
