Re 125 the statement concludes:
“the opportunity which we have in our Exploration Block in Vietnam is unique and significant effort will be spent this year in concluding the analysis, planning the well and bringing in the right partner.”

My question is: how many billion barrels of prospective resources does it take to have a “unique” opportunity?
As at the date of the interims, Lead A was looking to be about 400 square kilometres with 2-3 strata of interest at various points within that. That would potentially be a bigger field in terms of area than Bach Ho. And we’ve seen TGT wells producing net pay of 30 to 120 metre thickness.

Intriguing - and probably worth the wait to get the right group of partners together…..

No steer, of course, on dividend quantum - beyond the minimum of 10% of operating cashflow. I’ve leave an accountant to guess what that might be, but I’m guessing 1.5p per share.
Intriguing comments on 125, which imply to me that the deepwater prospect size is substantial and may not have been covered fully by the grid of the 3D seismic. More on that in March no doubt.
It would be nice if Egypt could settle a chunk of dollar debt in H1.

Scancell will never ever be in the driving seat about picking the best partner.

The only thing that matters re M&A is which cashed-up large pharmas are iinterested in Scancell - and when.

Not especially. But saw them mentioned with Redmile as a holder and was reminded that private companies often seek a listing via RTOs.
Any M&A will be driven by the science - and I don’t know enough about other companies or the science to pick a good fit.
But I wouldn’t be surprised to see something happen of a corporate nature.

Just a point on the idea of business combinations taking advantage of there being a Chair vacancy. I see that Redmile are also investees in a private company in immunoncology:

Combining a private company into a public company is a nice backdoor route to a listing.

I’d prefer to characterise it as a focus on developing the scientific proof that, eventually, will speak for itself! ??

I’m still not clear on this from the exchanges here: are Scancell presenting at JP Morgan’s conference next week or not? Are they attending? Do they have a stand? Are they on any panels? Has anyone here here seen the agenda?

Or do we just wait for an RNS on Monday morning to tell us, along with an update on Modi, Covidity etc?

If there are new variants, they look likely to be more infectious but milder still? But if “everyone” is infected with mild strains, does that help them resist a new mutation - or does it make everyone more vulnerable?
Covidity news might be interesting, but the Modi-1 news might be much more important for shareholders?

I say that if they have anything noteworthy to say, they would be mad to leave any RNS until after it. I expect an update on several fronts (incl Modi-1 and Covidity) no later than 9th Jan.

I'll be interested to see the trading update in the New Year. It is likely to be the most relevant one for some years, given that the usual uncontrollable factors (such as oil price volatility) have had much less impact in the last half-year than some recent periods.
I'll be particularly interested in any pre-results steer on the planned dividend quantum and the 125 plans.

I think the near-term Covidity news may be at least as important as the Modi-2/3 update. Why? Because it is more advanced in testing and monetisation for shareholders may be closer.

I’d be pretty certain that “results being available” means they are available to Scancell and nothing more. So, in the absence of an announcement today, I’m now looking at 3rd or 4th of January as the most likely time for an update - probably the 4th, as the Scots are still out on the 3rd. It is a waste of time putting any data out before then. Putting it out on the 4th would give analysts 3 days to write a considered note on the implications before all “the big boys” get back to work on the 9th.

If the RNS isn't out by Tuesday, they would leave it to the first business day in 2023, I think. It is pretty rare for material news to be put out between Christmas and New Year - and generally only happens with deal signings, not "progress reports".

Well yes, I can understand the temptation to take profits. After all, my own first purchase is up fivefold. But, right now, I’d literally sell everything else* to raise cash before I sold Scancell.

*Including my grandmother….granted she’s been dead for 60 years, but its the thought that counts ??
