AIM is utterly irrelevant to Scancell. So is the market price obtained by the impatient (though it does seem to throw up attractive entry points for punters who are not insiders).

The company will 1) do deals with industry players, generating cash and 2) ultimately sell out platforms or the whole company to industry players or 3) combine with another company and obtain finance via a NASDAQ or LSE listing.

The market price on AIM from time to time influences precisely none of those things - it just changes a few shareholders at the margin……some of whom will be proven to be impatient and wrong.

Its another red herring, I suspect. The only news that matters is the Modi-1 update next month released as Lindy stands up to speak. That will contain some proper data, not supposed anecdotes.

I would certainly expect Scancell to RNS the evidence presented to the AACR. It must certainly be price-sensitive.
There is also the possibility (probability!) of late updates to the data, depending exactly when patient scans fall in the next three weeks.

In case anyone bothers to read bulletin boards elsewhere, I was told last week that certain unscrupulous liars are putting it about that I’ve sold out here.

I haven’t.

I still have substantially all the shares I had ten years ago. Plainly I would have done better to sell out much more than the 5% I did in 2013……or indeed even in 2015/16/17 etc. But I didn’t.

I’ll be interested to see the interpretation of 125 and look forward to that being partnered and drilled in the next year or - at which point I expect to see the share price materially higher (albeit nowhere near the all-time highs).

Just on ovarian cancer, I caught a TV item on it this morning. 11 women a day die from ovarian cancer, primarily because it is often caught too late because symptoms (bloating etc) are being ignored because there is no obvious tumour near the skin surface.
A working vaccine would be a game-changer for treatment options.

Maybe the message of the gap is that one shouldn’t be out of the stock over the weekend?

I recall they have a Chinese collaboration re Avidmab. Not unconnected, I suspect - and perhaps indicative of news to come?

No….there are two streams to the MHRA changes:
1) to accelerate UK authorisation of treatments authorised elsewhere and
2) to accelerate approvals for new/innovative treatments - with “cancer vaccines” getting a specific mention.

As it happens, at the weekend I ran into one of the senior managers at one of the main brokers actively making markets in AIM stocks, who was bemoaning the fact that it has been really difficult for ALL AIM brokers to make money in recent weeks and months. In particular, there has been extremely low liquidity and a certain amount of “hunting in packs” from larger retail investors focusing on one specific stock and trying to move the price in one direction or the other.
Marketmakers are obliged to quote when asked for a price and so it is very easy for them to build up positions they can’t shift in these conditions, especially with institutions literally doing next to nothing in AIM stocks at present.
This is why the bid (or offer) can back up a long way on tiny volumes, in the way that Scancell’s price has recently done.

All it needs, though, is for an institutional bid for the shares to prompt liquidity - and we may well see that next month, if the Modi trial update provokes interest.

My understanding is that NOMADs were heavily involved across the sector, hence the similarities.

Its very simple. GBP has been a completely binary bet for the last 5-6 years. It still is. The market is telling us, via the price, that it is still considered a big longshot. But if it happens to come off (and the odds of that have improved slightly, due to activity elsewhere in the region) then the returns should far outweigh the potential 100% loss.
I retain an appropriately-sized position.

It isn’t surprising to me. I used to be a Director at an oil and gas company……..and, when drilling exploration wells, the general policy was to say as little as possible once the drillbit was in the “zone of interest”, until the well had been finished and, ideally, until it had been fully tested.
We are a long way from that point with Scancell. Where we are is the equivalent point to having encouraging oil shows in the cuttings from the drilling bit and the geology proving to match the seismic model on the basis of early results. In other words, we are on track for a great result, but don’t yet have a proven result that could form a rational, proven basis for investment.
If and when (as I expect) Scancell reach that point, I will be expecting them to make an enormous hoo-hah about it, especially as much of the science is both unique and protected by patent. But, until then, being “encouraged” or “very encouraged” by the Modi trial to date is exactly the right PR posture.

But watch this space…..??

Almost certainly correct Miavoce. Underpromise and overdeliver is the right balance to strike (especially, I should point out, with a known seller poised with their finger over the sell button!)

Thanks for the apology ab124. There is absolutely no question of holding back any hard info on bids - the company most certainly wouldn't do it and nobody suggested otherwise.

That is entirely different from a scenario in which the company and brokers don't rush to play up aspects of RNSs which may turn out to be quite important (which I think is what some complain).
