The problem, re the UK, is that institutional appetite for publicly-listed equities has dropped off a cliff over the last decade. Funds seem to prefer private market equities.

It follows that Scancell will likely either do a corporate deal in which it gets taken out by - or merged with - a company listed in the USA, Japan or Switzerland (all of which are still strong for pharmas) - or it will list on NASDAQ. That is probably a year or so away yet though.

Not really. Trish was originally discussing her condition (she likely thought) in a private support group for cancer sufferers. And, as “Patient 1”, deserved some sensitivity.

The latest comments are a description of the trial in practice and don’t focus on the patient’s own medical condition. As such, fair enough to post them here.

One of the original expectations was that some of the head and neck cancer patients would go on to have surgery, after the completion of the treatment. That would enable detailed analysis of the remaining tumour mass.

I wonder whether any patients have yet had such surgery and whether the mass remaining at the tumour site remained cancerous - or whether it was just dead tissue, after the cancer cells had been killed?

That would be an interesting point for an update, if such a patient exists....

Sure there are differences. But I don’t think any relationship has yet been proven as you suggest, because speed of action is surely dose-dependent in part.

Furthermore, the one example we know of did, in fact, see material shrinkage within weeks.

I’m just saying that the jury remains out - nothing more.

At the time of the first presentation we didn’t know that a second one was planned. Neither did we know, for sure, until this weekend that both these presentations were contingent on new new info being published beforehand on developments in the last three months.

Now those constraints are coming off this week, it seems to me obvious that there will be an RNS update at some point this month, consistent with the promise earlier this year that further data will be released “throughout 2023”. This week is a better time than most unless some trial milestone is days away.

The alternative would be to leave the market with nothing new until September (more than six months since the last update - which would be inconsistent with the promise of continuing publication of updates.

Chester claims:

….err no we don’t, mate. We are still seeking info on the appropriate dose and have only just increased to the trial maximum. It was always about safety first.

Clearly the current share price is nowhere near discounting “spectacular”. Hence the Vulpes description of the share price as “derisory”.

But I think it is a mistake to think that the share price is a good indicator of outcomes. If it were, then others in the sector wouldn’t be taken over for six times the pre-deal share price (as happened at least once last year, in the much more closely-followed and well-researched US market).

One account, however personally transformational, is of no commercial value….

He (via Clatterbridge) is lead investigator on more than one trial, including Transgene, and has recently been quoted talking up the potential of personalised vaccines.

I think this is all about control over the message. Ottensmier is conflicted. Miller is not and, additionally, will be able to ensure that anything arising from the poster presentation can be accurately incorporated in an RNS for next week.

I saw Ottensmier enthuse about Modi-1 at the AGM 18 months ago - arguably he might say more than he should, especially as Trish is his patient.

The real news will be next week, I think.

Interesting they now have hired a specialist healthcare PR agency (one that also plays a wider role in deal-doing than a traditional multi-sector PR does).

Re the delayed trade, I see the UT was a modest few tens of thousands at 15p, followed swiftly by 100k at the same price and then by 333k at 15.25p. I suspect this should open at 15.25p bid….
