RE: 40% of Irish Electricity now coming from Wind Power11 Mar 2021 16:30
JH77, a senseless response, to some real time information & a very informative website link.
Its not binary to want only oil & gas success & not be pleased with renewable improvements. I didnt make the wind blow !!!
The Art of War & Investments, teaches you to know your Enemy & your Competition, before you can be successful !
For the record, I wish Providence every success & agree Ireland would be better off with its own oil & gas sources & have bought shares & lost money here for over 10 yrs & have stayed in, but I never put all my eggs in any one basketcase.
PS200306, your read has lots of very good points & info, (much of which I have a hard time finding up to date details myself). Some thoughts were that with much larger & more offshore wind coming online, the capacity factor might make it to 40%. Also the French 750MW interconnector coming online in 2025, should be phased up with the coal plant shutdowns to reduce outtage risks. Also, true or false, High View power is claiming 60-70% efficency, maybe when combined with suitable factories or maybe even to datacenters. Finally, I use lower cost off peak electricity for 45% of my electricity needs (80% nuclear). With the right price incentives, we could flatten the worst of the energy peak demands & even incentivise a shift of demand to times of maximum supply, ie, run the big machines & heat the water when its windy ! The curves can be flattened !
