RE: SP25 Nov 2018 22:53
Okay, guys, I know I've been "stirring the pot" but nevertheless I appreciate your comeback and especially enjoyed levistubbs' comments hereunder...probably 'cos he struck a chord with my thinking.
The particular bit of AAU which rankled me was their placing taking preference over a delayed "first pour" which I felt immediately screwed any chance of our SP advancing. Up to that point I firmly believed we were on the threshold of at least an instant doubling or trebling of potential investment value. The follow up rewards to BoD I fully believe caused would be investors to wonder if this was the start of a typical "snouts in the trough" that we have witnessed all too often with AIM-listed companies and could well account for a lack of interest or, if you prefer, a scramble to buy our shares ever since ( the De Villiers duo being the exception...but a sceptic could pass even that off as a clever ploy to promote excitement, since the sums involved are no great deal for a wealthy personage).
VanVan and I have generally expended similar views about many companies and mostly on the iii chat boards over quite a period of time. Clearly we differ at this moment but nevertheless I have the highest regard for the way he interacts with everyone. I seldom venture onto ADVFN because there is imho too much profanity and vulgarity by some folk trying to shout down others. ( I see enough of that sort of bully-boy behavior on almost a daily basis from our President Number 45 --- hopefully soon to be investigated, plucked and stuffed in the New Year). Sadly iii (which I enjoyed) lost its way ... and many of its contributors.
However right now I am rather dismayed by VanVan's para...which I quote verbatim for specific reference
"This is an Exploration and Development Co. not a yielder. If you want dividends invest in something like Taylor Wimpey. We want free cash to be invested in developing our assets like Salinbas to generate capital growth.
The Board have always been totally clear that Ariana is an E&D Company. Dividends are not on there agenda and I suspect won’t be unless the Board unfortunately run out of ideas of how to invest our money for growth"
That evokes a charter, pure and simple, for "jam tomorrow". I'm sorry, VanVan, but to me it stinks. I am too close to octogenarian and having come so far with investing in this Company I want to be in a position to sell out at a time of my choosing but most certainly at a profit. That should, at the very least, be steadily increasing from the point that the miner is starting to earn money. My support and trust for the directors should blossom accordingly. Otherwise what guarantee do I have that they do not have an agenda to optimize growth for personal gain, possibly at the expense of we PIs....or, even worse to regularly hike up their emoluments and benefits?. Remember, this is AIM !
No, my friend, we have to see either dividends or share scrip issues coming back to us and fairly soon now.
