Shocking news from vistry , as my previous post stated , we are doomed …well they are , it’s not looking good for the whole sector ,,just shows people just post whatever they are thinking with no actual knowledge ( like me , before you say ) the amount of people saying vistry was a bargain at £9 , top up , added at £7 etc etc saying this will be over £10 by Xmas , I’ve been guilty of saying Psn would reach £18 when we were rising daily and now look at us , I’d be happy with £13 now and I would exit . I hear you stevebt, my reasoning is that BP is such a huge company and in my opinion the dividend is safe , I would be getting approximately 18k a year div payments, 12k from PSN which I think is debatable as to whether it’s secure or not , the prospects of each businesses share price rising is the million dollar question. I will sit tight for a couple of weeks or so and see where we are .

Andyalan , great post and yes I’m all eggs in one basket , it’s worked before but I’m obviously aware of the high risk involved and this time it’s been painful with other problems in my life , you are absolutely correct about your point on selling at £17 instead of waiting for £17.20 , I actually had my finger hovering over the sell button minutes before the close of play one day just before ex dividend day when the price was high . Without getting too deep , I’m also aware of my huge mood swings from being incredibly optimistic and joyful,to being defeated and having no optimism whatsoever, it’s normal for me with my bi-polar.

Thanks all , Mike that was a very kind reply . I think it’s probably best just to sit it out for the long run like stevebt says , as I said , my only concern is the dividend but that’s me being negative again . Sadly I live and work alone so bad times are very dark …

let’s face it , this is doomed , along with the other builders , in the past we’ve had contributors saying that this will fly once so and so happens , and a rise is around the corner etc etc , not anymore , i’m £100,000 down in a few months and yes , i am bitter and totally ****ed off , usual crap going through my head , don’t invest what you can’t afford to lose , don’t get greedy etc …well i did get greedy and now i have to work out the best way forward , sitting and holding for years might work but , i’m nervous about the dividend being cut or suspended, so do i jump into bp and take another risk or just cut my loses and stick the remaining money in the bank and disappear …

And rather predictably, down we go again even though the government are saying they will overrule local councils who block planning

Hi all , does anyone have any positive opinions about PSN and the building sector generally ?

The drop has affected all the builders , will this ever recover , of course nobody has a crystal ball , except , perhaps Denby , but is there anything on the horizon that I’ve missed to give us hope ?

Will this stop falling …if only I’d had denbys crystal ball , what a difference a few weeks can make !

Too be fair to myself , I’d always planned on selling before labour got in , I was about to sell just before ex div day at close of trading but missed my opportunity and then on budget day , but as usual , greed got the better of me and now look where we are , happy to hold long term but slightly concerned about the figures not adding up .If the dividend is cut , or removed , then this has no hope and neither do I of getting back to my paper highs . Let’s all hope with demand for housing that this recovers next year , and if someone can order a rise before Christmas then that would be great , cheers

Stevebt , wish I had your optimism, I cannot now see anything to return this anywhere near £16/17 , rate cut did nothing and as a previous post suggested, the figures just don’t look good going forward . I thought to myself that I’d just have to hold for years to come and collect the dividend, I’m now worried that the figures won’t allow much of a dividend in the future unless something changes , of course I’m doom and gloom , paper loss of £75,000 for me in just the last couple of weeks…

Historically it has risen well up to the BOE announcement, that was before Labours budget , things are now extremely subdued, I’m living in hope after seeing a large paper loss recently.

Big push upwards into the £16s by Thursday lunchtime…

Stevebt , I totally understand what you are saying , I’m exactly the same , yes it’s up this year but , when you’ve seen it reach over £17 you aren’t going to be comfortable selling in the £14s . I wanted to sell some , if not all , to invest elsewhere, I know feel stuck and will have to wait for a recovery.

Oh dear , £40,000 down in a day …time to try and forget this for now , painful to view but I’m sure we are all confident this will bounce back

And there was me feeling happy with the rise ….boom , back to reality , this drives me insane , again , my fault for not selling up whilst around the £16.60 level today . Can’t see what’s ever going to push this up , the longer time goes on , the more I think this will never recover into the £20s , let’s hope I’m wrong

Stevebt , mine will be over 4K but it won’t be going in here , I’ve had enough of these huge fluctuations in the sp , I have my eye on Bp with the view of holding long term and collecting the large dividend . Let’s see how this goes during the next few weeks

About 28k off mine , and I can see this going lower , if the budget affects us then it’s back in the £14s , I’ve stopped worrying about it now , sit back and leave it , see where we are next year , if it rises to mid 16s anytime soon , i will be gone , too much volatility for me

Here we go again , after the joy of reaching a recent high , back down we go , I hate the volatility of this share ,of course it was a great trading opportunity for anyone who got their timing right , I wanted to be out before the budget , probably not going to happen now unless this bounces back

Morning Crossley, I have over 14,000 shares in my Isa and over 6,000 outside . Yes , the ups are significant but then the drops are too , to be honest I was so close to selling just before close yesterday but I thought there was still room for some increase for house builders so thought it was possible to only have a slight drop at open this morning, most builders have dropped too today so it was always going to be a little painful , however , when I factor in stamp duty costs to buy back in and the loss of the dividend, currently there’s not much in it
