This might be a reset on values throughout the sector , look how the SP of the likes of persimmon and Vistry ( others too) have adjusted over recent years , they are not going to get to those highs again , let’s be realistic, whilst we all hope for a recovery, I’d be careful, as Robleo says , if the div drops again or is suspended this could fall dramatically.

Thanks Robleo, I got caught in the greed trap again and instead of being satisfied with reaching my financial target and putting the cash into something safe , I hung in wanting more and got stung by a six figure drop . I’m certainly being extremely cautious currently.

This is a risky investment currently, the near future for the industry looks bleak even if the war were to end soon , there are no guarantees that the dividend can be sustained, hence the recent cut .

I had 400,000 shares in TW , you can imagine how I’m feeling currently , oh and I had to take around a 7k cut from my last dividend to rub salt into the wound …

Of course if you want to wait years then I expect this to rise considerably but with interest rates set to rise , you will get a safe return on your capital just sticking it in a high interest account .

I want to buy back in but the economy looks so poor with this government and of course the war (Trump) I just can’t see any way things are going to improve

DonoLad , absolutely agree , I believed the short term future was bright for house builders , took a knock when labour were voted in , had hope with their daft promises of building hundreds of thousands of new homes but sadly now we seem to be heading for financial disaster , I might buy back in if there are further drops , maybe some trading but I do worry with the economy how these builders are going to make any money , could see the dividend having to be cut further in the future if this continues.

Sold the lot yesterday, thankfully. Sadly I see no reason for any recovery in the share price soon , the whole sector is doom and gloom , of course , if the war were to end there would be a bounce , however, prices of materials , fuel etc are going to be affected for a long time . After making some decent money since covid this sector has really bitten me hard . Time to reassess.

You can’t always time investing right , I’ve made 6 figure sums elsewhere in previous years so I accept that I’m going to make mistakes sometimes, I’m certainly not an expert , it’s not my job , I’m just fortunate to have built up some spare cash to try and better myself and family . Well you seem to make predictions on a few different share pages , I cannot understand how you seem to think you know where a share price will settle when nobody else does .

Cdl. Correct , I sold my TW shares for Vistry but soon sold there when I realised that it wasn’t going to rebound quickly , yes I lost money but sometimes things don’t go to plan . I’m decided whether to buy back in here as it looks extremely tempting at this low price , not sure the building sector has much going for it currently but we all know that things will change , it’s just how long .

Ex div is 2 weeks away , so much can happen in between then , why try a guess a share price ?

Apart from a rise from Vistry ( large director purchase ) aren’t all the builders down considerably, banks are putting up mortgage rates and deals are be removed , obviously all to do with the war and costs increasing , government borrowing up too

Saw a better opportunity elsewhere. 40k loss isn’t the end of the world , made much more previously . I like to be active , gives me something to follow and gives you something to post about . Enjoy laughing at others pain …

Morning all , after reading Vistry results ( quickly) and seeing their sp drop by 20% I decided to sell here and buy in there , a drop of that amount against decent results isn’t justifiable, I expect a quick rise , time will tell if I’ve made the correct investment, good luck all and I hope you get the results you want

Ouch this is extremely painful , 45k down this week . Great opportunity for some to buy in , only Denby with his crystal ball will know how low this is going , guess I’m in this for the long haul …

Stevebt, imagine if I’d stuck to investing in BP, went over £5 this morning from around £3.60 low , how I wish I’d just invest and leave it alone ….
