The valid reason for having a lower instore price would be when the M&S store doesn't sell a cheaper version of the same product - therefore, they sell their more expensive better quality product at a competitive price to fill the lower price gap and remain competitive.

When the same product is sold on Ocado Retail there is a much better choice, including lower priced products, therefore, it is not necessary to reduce the price.

So, I think that after the coronavirus pandemic is over we will see this trend continue, especially if people continue to work from home, with consumers shopping locally for convenience and moving towards online for their main shop.
