First signs of shorts closing with the SP marginally in the blue at 1563p mid price - at least on my screen - at close.
And that was with the market in general falling further into the red towards the close

In actual fact I think we are seeing a good well financed market led transition to alternative energy provision and that hasn't been at the expense of North Sea Oil and Gas. The big change was earlier when coal production ceased.

Also I think most politicians realise that we need multiple energy sources and are working effectively towards that without cutting ties with carbon. Although the Scottish Greens may put pressure on the SNP, but I doubt it will make much difference.

The only country that I can think off that has defiantly been damaged by the Green lobby is Germany - they have dumped nuclear and now just have carbon, including coal, as their main energy source. But the Green Party have held power in Germany for decades.

Its the tone of the OP, putting a totally unnecessary combative element to his posts that is my main objection, especially the way alternative energy sources are derided - these technological advances have to be a part of our future.
It looks likely that Enquest will follow this path in some way at Sullom Voe.

Looking back to July 2021 when the SP was around 230p, its gone up in quite large steps, presumably as a result of a rerate.

We seem to be part way through the third step, so maybe the SP will plateau after the update and than go sideways for a few months.

I didn't say bin anything Mansardman - just continue to balance supply with all different forms of energy, including carbon - no conflict - all producers, including North Sea Oil, have a supply role.

There won't be some sudden seismic change, its just a gradual evolution with the UK getting more of its energy from home produced energy of all sorts including carbon.

I think the shorts have OCDO pulled back on a very strong bit of elastic at the moment but sooner or later they will have to let the elastic go - when they cash out - and then the SP will surge.

The problem is - how far can they pull the elastic back?

I think a lot will depend on the financial markets - if they fall MKS could do a NXT - if they rise then MKS could even move into over bought territory.
Long term though, there is still excellent potential for a healthy capital gain, especially with the FTSE100 beckoning..

Its misguided comment like this that create the wrong impression of where we are going regarding energy policy and supply.

This isn't a battle between one form of energy and another.

The aim must be to balance supply between all sources of energy so that our reliance on one form doesn't create financial and environmental fall out as it is at the moment.

The OP seems to think he is some sort of God - he clearly isn't.

So according to the Mail on Sunday - "....stocks that have been targeted include Ocado – the largest short position by value at £703million, or 6 per cent of its stock"

With over 10% of stock out on loan - data from Euroclear - over the last few months, this is no surprise.

What is relevant is that only one shorter has more than 0.50% - so if Ocado issue positive news we could see a rapid increase in the SP as the shorts depart post haste.

Just an observation - most guesses seem to be based on Brent rather than Enquest - to be objective do you not need this years production estimates issued with the next trading update?

Technically its already in the top 100 by market cap but the market cap needs to go up a bit more before it gets into an automatic entry position - I have the market cap at £5,026.8

This table is out of date - the SP hasn't been updated, it shows M&S at 105 - but it gives a good indication of the current position.

My guess is that by the summer MKS will be in the FTSE100.

My investment in Ocado is much more recent than CWR and I recently brought a big junk, so I am more or less flat at the moment, but as a long term investment I have much more confidence in Ocado than CWR, although I brought in at CWR when the SP was around 9p before consolidation lifted the SP to 150p and have top sliced many times.

Ocado will always pull the rabbit out the hat and the SP can take off at any time - shorts come here at their peril - its an exciting and profitable stock to own, but patience is the key here.

The volatility that comes from being listed on AIM exaggerates movements in the SP both ways and has to always be factored in, especially when we have global market problems.

I don't see inflation being a big problem for M&S other than it does seem that consumers are going to have their spending power reduced by having to spend more on heating - this is particularly expected to be a problem for the over 65's.

As you say customers have a choice of brands now at M&S, so there will probably be a shift in demand between the brands and M&S product ranges to reflect inflation and reduced buying power. This may impact on margins, but with careful buying profits should't be badly affected.

The fall in the SP certainly isn't Ceres or hydrogen related.

Its simply down to a general fall and sell off in tech shares driven by fears of inflation. Many investors are switching to value stocks and commodities.

Long term, we just have to endure it - the fundamentals are still sound here and the tide will eventually turn but it might get worst before it gets better.

I think short term fortunes are mainly down to market sentiment on results day at the moment.
Next and Greggs would probably both have risen strongly on good days.

Tech stocks are taking most of the battering but the whole market looks rather fragile to me.
Certainly not a time to sell though - as long term holders we just have to endure it.

Thankfully MKS is still performing very well, even though the rest of my portfolio is dreadful.

Market sentiment against tech stocks is still very poor on both sides of the Atlantic.
Its not great for long term holders, but we will just have to endure it - my feeling is that it will get worst before it gets better, with inflation the main issue.

We will always get these setbacks from time to time but I have learnt now, not to react by selling - all you do then is loose your profits or multiply your losses.

It will be up to Ocado now to turn the tide - it may take a while but there is plenty of good news in the pipeline..

Remember, the fundamentals are still very positive here - the negatives are market related as the Black Swan flies away.

I think Vertical Farming will feature in the presentation - this has massive potential, and with the worlds largest Vertical Farm - funded by Ocado - due to open in June in Gloucestershire, we could get a sneak peak at the tech.
