The fall back at M&S was predictable maybe with hindsight - with investors clambering onboard over the last few weeks for a quick profit - my guess is that it will turn sometime in the next few trading days with a modest recovery and then trade sideways for a while.

Most of the volatility, here and at MKS, is I think down to the shorts - they are simply one step ahead of the private investor and have the financial muscle to manipulate at will when volume falls or when there is a sell off.

Yes, the sell on news/take a profit traders dominate this morning - as I think we all suspected.

Long term there is plenty more to come.

Excellent results from Ocado's UK partner M&S this morning - particularly with food.

Fully underlines the importance of having a strong online offering that is now working through into the partners store sales as well, with increased basket sizes as consumers are switching to M&S for all their food shopping.

Good solid update with plenty more to come over the next few months.

Excellent update - very impressed how well Clothing and Home are doing - especially the full priced sales.

ASOS have also upped their game and are moving to the main market in Feb.

Sometimes, when a company has been steaming into results with high expectations the actual day can be a bit of a let down.

Stock out on loan for December - data from Euroclear - was 3.3%, with no shorts over 0.5% on Short Interest Tracker currently - so they have some effect, although some might have cashed out this January and contributed to the recent rise.

Markets look good and blue for tomorrow - figures crossed.

Cash position and cash flow is OK even with restaurants and bars performing badly.

Excellent recovery performance - bodes well for when Covid is behind us.

Premier Inn are certainly well placed to exploit the recovering market in 2022 and expect performance to match 2019 some time during the year.

I think going sideways for a while would actually be a result and maybe the only result for the next few months, that is until the market takes its next turn.

I wrote this on Saturday, so its slightly out of date.

Technically its already in the top 100 by market cap but the market cap needs to go up a bit more before it gets into an automatic entry position - I have the market cap at £5,026.8

This table is out of date - the SP hasn't been updated, it shows M&S at 105 - but it gives a good indication of the current position.

My guess is that by the summer MKS will be in the FTSE100.

The issue with the SP is directly related to tech shares in general and fears over higher inflation.
All tech shares are broadly following the NASDAQ at the moment - hence the fall over the last few weeks.

Better news today, as the NASDAQ regained some its losses - now signs that tech shares have been oversold.

Very good comparison on the graph Boyobach - it just shows how tech companies have been knocked back and shows that we shouldn't be too concerned about the SP's of individual companies.
Also looking at the graph, the time when CWR got ahead of OCDO coincided with COP26 and heightened interest in renewables tech.

Yes a lot more if's with CWR but if the licencing deals do come through it will probably be a much more profitable FTSE100 company than OCDO in five years time - certainly another ARM Holdings.
Although in ten years OCDO could be another Amazon and CWR swallowed up by a multinational.

Actual UT was 1547.5p so down.

I don't think it was pressure from the UK Government or environmental groups that drove Shell away from Cambo.

The large oil companies have changed their investment agenda and are following the money away from carbon, but that's mainly market led and also down to some pressure from their shareholders.
Also if Shell see a falling long term market for oil they will try and extract what they do need from cheaper global sources than the North Sea.

So, the smaller North Sea oil companies will have less completion and hopefully a higher oil price with Government on their side for strategic home production - especially when you consider that if the Government did dump NSO then they would have to fund decommissioning - at the moment new production funds that with the petroleum tax at 0% .

Knocked back by the market this afternoon - Yanks are very jittery.

It seems the shorts are having fun at the moment - especially with tech - but not with oil stocks, they just fell with the market this afternoon. Stand out bargain looks to be AHT when it turns.
