I agree there is a very different mentality to the west. however all bullies eventually learn - and i disagree that they have not learnt lessons.

russia is in the wrong...they have also made a pigs ear out of much of the "special operation" thankfully.

however the reality is that they are too strong to be pushed out of ukr. they also need to be allowed to save face.
they have learnt a painful lesson...lost a lot of their armed forces strength and probably hurt themselves economically for a considerable future period.

this will grind down and peace talks before winter. the question is how much land ukr can recover

The sanctions currently on Russia at the moment..would destroy China. That is why they have looked at the situation and try to walk the tight rope having previously aligned themselves with Russia. China is much more dependent on global trade than Russia. It will prob give Taiwan breathing space for a few years yet.

There is no way Russia will be invaded...that would be nukes and world war 3. Whilst the west are stronger there would be no real victory only destruction.

I don't believe ukr can beat Russia...just a question of how much coast they can recover

i think zelensky knows that as we start getting into winter with more fuel and food hikes - he will start losing support in the west.

now in my opinion that is the most likely outcome. i sense zelensky is losing some support as world economy is suffering. he has been the hero up to now - but soon he will lose this status with his continual demands - which other countries can't afford. in addition they will see the war being prolonged as a disaster on a more global scale...he could also start to lose popularity in ukraine - so many young men dying.

of course boris has played it cute - if there is a peace deal he has already postured that russia needs to be stood up against....thinks he is a 3rd rate winston churchill...

my suspicion is that the west has enough motive to keep the war going as long as possible - to reduce russian future capability.
they will be juggling that with the realisation that the longer it goes on - the more it hurts the whole world...so a bit of a balancing act. their financial accountability will also come under more scrutiny i suspect sooner rather than later. plus with obligations to help rebuild parts of ukr in the future when the domestic situations are getting worse and worse is going to be challenging

the ukr has put up a very gallant fight but is very much dependent on western arms. the more they can fight back the stronger their negotiating position. though the flip side i suppose might be that certain areas might not be worth keeping considering the damage. however i suspect stubborn pride is going to be difficult to rationalise against.

however at some point the support will start to dry up and reality will hit. the worry is a lot of life will have be en lost even though certain outcomes were always inevitable
