That's the thing, when there's nothing to cheer about for a very long time people begin to get bored and frustrated and have a moan - human nature, and pretty justified if you ask me. Postman mentions seeing where we are in a couple of years time, my concern is that a couple of years ago we were knocking around .07 seeing occasional jumps upwards when a new investment was announced and being promised a 'lively second half of the year' (which definitely never materialised) but now we're trudging along at half that, with less and less communication from the board and all our hopes seeming to rest on just one large investment. This is my biggest holding now so obviously I want it to come good too. It just feels like I've been waiting a long time already for it to do so.

I think part of the problem here is that in the current climate there's literally only one investment that vela hangs upon, and that's SGSC. Pretty much everything else is soooo far down that we don't get any kind of SP reaction when one of the other investments drops a good RNS. And other than that Igraine news the other day which did breathe some life back in for a week, we've heard nothing from the board so there's not much to attract buyers at the moment, no results to look forward, no exciting new IPOs announced. For people like me who are 50% or more down and locked in it's now just a case of not dwelling on the 'what ifs' and kicking ourselves for not selling in the brief period when we'd made a few quid. Anyone who can afford to do so has probably bottom-drawered this for now in the faint hope it'll come good eventually.

....which hopefully no one does! good to see a bit of volume today though, and mostly buys judging by the SP movement

I really hope so, been nice to see this very gradually nosing upwards since that last RNS, maybe a change of fortunes? Or just a false dawn? God help me, if it continues and I get a rush of blood to the head I may even have a little top up

Ah I like Jimmy's wildly optimistic predictions and access to secret information, it's a nice break from the general frustrated and downbeat comments from most of us, myself included. Either this Igraine development is a signal that commercialisation is going to come off at some point, or the Board have just wilfully demonstrated massive incompetency by doubling down on a bad investment. Personally I can't believe they'd be that daft, so I'm happy to stay put and wait it out for now.

I sincerely hope so. We're all still hanging in here clinging on to hope rather than expectation at this point. One morning I'm going to have a glance at the VELA score and we're going to be back up towards .1 - it could very well still happen. Despite everyone's frustration with the board surely they've got to be working on something? Haven't they?

Agreed Unclejim, I'd even take a small % loss if I could recover a decent whack to move on with. Such a shame, I honestly had really high hopes here. Of course, there's still a chance that SGS will turn out to be a canny bit of business and to be fair there's an awful lot of investments that have plummeted in the last couple of years so it's not just the Board making awful investment decisions. I've been tempted to pull the plug on this a few times recently like when it randomly hit around .04 a couple of weeks back but here we all are, still stubbornly clinging on to the last shred of hope! Did you sell up Hector or are you still in (just out of curiosity)?

a bumper daily disappointment check today, down to .03 off the back of a decent enough, if unspectacular, RNS yesterday. a couple of meaty sells seem to have done for us today, they're definitely not making money at these prices so looks like another miserable day in VELAland. boooooooo

well thanks Board for the update (apparently they read this BB!) - not earth shattering news but I'm definitely not going to moan about us getting something we've all been waiting and asking for, an update and a positive one at that. it may not give the SP a boost beyond .04 but at least it should keep us treading water for a while longer and it just might be a precursor to something more solid..... ever the optimist!

I've almost had enough myself. Nothing happening here, it's a shame because when I got in a couple of years back I did the research, the potential looked great but it's all just got bogged down amongst plummeting investments, complete silence over SGS and a general lack of interest from the board in direct contradiction to what they promised very recently. It's just the FOMO keeping me in though, it could rocket on the right news and if the last couple of months have shown anything it's that it doesn't take a particularly large volume to get this moving. Obviously if I do ditch it and move on the damn thing will rocket within a couple of days....

Ha, my thoughts exactly. I do still believe that I'll make money from this eventually but at the moment it's just boring watching a cycle of a bump up followed by a tedious ebb. Seems to have been that way for a looooong time now. I recall a year or more back the board promising a 'lively' end to the year or something, that never materialised either. That £2mil is surely earmarked for something? Otherwise we've got an investment company that can't find anything to invest in.....

That's certainly why I stayed in (well that and the fact my average is quite a lot higher than where we are now) knowing that where pharma is concerned it takes ages for things to bear fruit. Non disclosure is always a part of that, obviously it doesn't excuse the terrible communication from the BoD but it does partially explain it.

to offer an alternative view isn't it nice for a change to see a few people buying in with meaningful enough amounts to actually shift us upwards? nice to see some blue today and maybe even a little optimism returning

Yikes, just when you think we're about at the bottom.... serious concerns now that post consolidation it'll just give us a new opportunity to fall further. Maybe that's the cause of the sp dip today, people bailing out whilst they still can?

having been here for 18 months or so I originally invested for pretty much the good reasons hammy listed and was confident in seeing steady growth right up until the SGS trial situation came in to play. I do worry that to many this is now seen as a pharma stock and that it all seems to hinge on the success or otherwise of SGS. The silence from the board doesn't concern as much because I get that until there's something solid to communicate there's no point producing a nothing RNS. but surely that can't be occupying them so much they can't look to make further investments in the meantime?

The last couple of days have been grim, but unless there's something brewing in the background that none of us can possibly know about i'm approaching this as a bad couple of days on the back of the Scally disappointment, which pulled a lot of the good vibes out and completely overshadowed the great Hav results. Hey ho, to be honest I've not enjoyed it at all and even thought about pulling the plug this afternoon but.... nah, nothing goes up in a straight line, GGP have discovered a load of gold and the SP will bounce back. We're also clearly not the only ones that have had a bad week, seems to have been rough for all sorts of sectors this week. Fully agree about staying off the boards over the weekend, it'll be full of cranks.

Absolutely - I've not got the spare funds for a top up so I've simply done the next best thing, which is absolutely nothing. Must admit I did a double take when I checked on the morning of the Scally results, the mid 20's price didn't compute for a moment but luckily I sorted out my approach to this share a while back (I'm still pretty new to all of this, so a huge amount still to learn), and as has been consistently pointed out in the last couple of weeks the gold is still in the ground, it'll be mined, the SP will go back up. Likewise. I've only been trading for less than a year, 6 months ago I probably would have been panicking over this morning's events but it's clearly just one of those things to ride out, switch off for a few hours and trust that the same fundamentals that made me delighted to be invested here are the same now as they were yesterday. It'll recover, and then some I'm sure!

Ardbeg 10 year for me tonight! If we hit 50p I'll be getting out the Renaissance.... Raising a glass to my first target being reached, bought in at 15p, have no intention of selling anything yet though as while I expect there may be bumps in the road now and then I believe this is headed firmly in the right direction for the forseeable. Doubling my money (on paper) is a fantastic start.
