I bought a while back and held for gold. I now have about 65% less gold than I had. I really hope that one day I'll have more gold than I started with.

Right Bowlers. no clue at all. I think they got away with it last AGM because the SGS situation was still in play and they perhaps got the benefit of the doubt as to whether commercialisation might be about to happen. If nothing positive materialises in the next 6 months you'd imagine next AGM could be an uncomfortable one for some of these characters.

Bcarm - not sure what you're basing your extremely optimistic predictions on for news after close / killer RNS next week etc but I truly hope you're right!

It's madness isn't it? Can't believe for a second that it hasn't been discussed between the various parties involved and a conclusion reached, so why haven't the investors been informed? This illustrates very clearly that when people are coming on here to have a moan it's mostly about the communication and perceived lack of interest by the board rather than any kind of lazy criticism of the sp or working to any kind of negative agenda. This BoD just don't help themselves.

he he, that's a very optimistic post Bcarm, there's a couple of big "ifs" in there. MODE have been hopeless for ages and the investment is so small in comparison to Igraine / SGS that it'll take something truly spectacular for it to make any difference here. it certainly won't be their bitcoin jar! surely everyone invested here realises it all hinges on the SGS deal, don't they? it's effectively been all about that one play for ages, to pretend otherwise is wishful thinking. it might happen. It might not. we've certainly waited quite a while already to find out.

Seems to me that the hold for gold / rns this week / if you don't like it sell up and move on crew are simply at a different place on the curve having not had long enough in Vela to have been ground down by it's slow and steady decline. They're still in the blind hope stage simply because the BoD don't give anything of substance to get hold of or are able to show any value to us for putting out money in to their company. Buy in at this level? Yeah i would, but only a small speculative punt on the off chance that it might come good eventually, a small enough amount I could just forget about and check every now and then. As it is we're all invested here (I think) and we all want the same thing, so let's just hope or new optimists are right!

Hopefully the good that might come of this Truspine fiasco is that the BoD will be embarrassed enough and maybe concerned enough about the damage to their professional reputations that this could happen on their watch that they might start paying a bit more attention to Vela and IR. I know when I bought in it was partly because of the success JN had with AAA plus most of the investments looked pretty decent back then even MODE, and I liked the way they handled the Kanabo IPO. Since then it's just been an overweight investment in SGS that's got the SP stuck in the mud until it's resolved, the performance good or bad of everything else seems to be irrelevant. Right up until the point where they accidentally blew £300k on an investment they might or might not want (some clarification on that would be very welcome but is anyone surprised that it's not come yet?). The very bottom drawer for this one, no point tapping out for me I'm so under water. Such a shame, when I bought in I genuinely had high hopes for this. Just got to hope that one day that RNS we all want to see drops in and the SGS situation is cleared up so we can all move on and maybe even up!

This is truly pathetic, I'm embarrassed for them. Accidentally investing £300k? Impressive lack of control over the business, well done BoD you've outdone yourself here (and any of the newer investors trying to suggest this is positive ask yourself - have ever seen this type of thing before, a board issuing an outraged RNS about an investment they've made that they knew nothing about!)

The frustrating thing is that none of us are particularly moaning about the investments themselves or even the SP (pitiful though it is, but we generally get why), it's just the non existent comms giving the impression of utter disinterest from the BOD who claim to have noted and addressed it several times but nothing material ever happens. And this is the bit that should be free to them right up until they appointed a PR company from who we've heard precisely zero!

Careful vela you'll get a nose bleed! Good to see some action at long last. Like the good old days, RNS out equals a jump in the sp. Thing is it doesn't seem to take much in the way of trades to make this move significantly, imagine what would happen if positive SGS news did drop.....

Poor old Vela, ignored and unloved. Singles figure trades some days, the majority sells. We're going to have to hope that either we get a sniff of something interesting SGS-wise or that the Ensilica IPO is a beast to give this a pulse, because for the last month or more it's been dead in the water.

Ha, snap! In for £500 which would be a shame but not devastating if it went to 0. Not big time but hey, worth a punt.

If they've got any sense they'll have sold up and taken the 15% hit rather than the very much bigger one most of us would take if we jumped ship. Hard to see where the good news required to get this share moving is going to come from at the moment, the analysis by various contributors of the SGS / Igraine investments over the last couple of weeks has thrown out a few worrying points on top of the general poor showing of the portfolio.
And now I've just broken my own promise to myself not to post unless I had something vaguely positive to say. Rubbish all round.

Agreed, it obviously won't have any effect on the SP but as has been mentioned, it's not a good look to moan about something and then continue to moan when it's addressed. And like the Igraine investment it might just be a subtle signal that they board anticipate SGS to come off and to require a PR company and the trappings of a larger outfit. I'd prefer some good solid news on investments but in the absence of that I guess this is progress of a sort.

Tricky one that THG, the discontent on here seems to be mostly coming from people (like myself) who have been here a while and have an average double or more than where we currently sit. But the fact remains that despite everything this could still multi bag from here, SGS is an ongoing situation behind the scenes and although it may be taking an age I reckon if it was actually dead and not going to happen in any form we'd already know. We all know how long pharma deals can and do take, and the NDAs around them. I'd be pretty happy if my average was .035 but that would only be if I hadn't witnessed the terrible communication from the board. As for the other investments to be fair there's a lot of stuff that's been hammered over the last couple of years, some of the decisions have been sketchy but on the whole I think it's been hard to call what's going to be a winner and what isn't in this climate

you and me both Unclejim - although perversely if SGS/Igraine does come off it'll see a considerable rise in the SP (based on the movement recently on pretty low volume) and would result in Vela sitting on a big old war chest to diversify with. Just depends if you trust them to push on from there and really transform things in the long run....
