Just Vela doing what it does best - disappointing on a daily basis. Even when there is a reason for it to go up (ENSI, for example) it only creeps further down. Perhaps it's something to do with sentiment or a lack of any news or even interest from the BoD? The day I get out of here will be truly joyous but mostly I try not to think about Vela any more, I've done all the averaging down I'm prepared to do, just leave it and hope one day a miracle happens and I can get out without a big old loss

I don't think anyone would deny that the macro situation is horrible at the moment and obviously it's not just Vela that have hit the skids. But I just don't see why we'll see this head up in to the .03's over the coming months on sentiment alone, which the BoD have utterly destroyed. As always it's got to be news driven to move things so for that we've got to look at Aeristech and Conduit. As we've already seen the recent success of the ENSI investment hasn't been enough to change sentiment or the SP at all

Personally I hope the Conduit merger/NASDAQ business is concluded quickly, that gets RNS'd, we see a spike and I jump out at somewhere approaching my average. Kicking myself for not doing it last time at a small loss, there are so many better opportunities out there that the money would be better spent on.

Maybe we'll even see the Aeristech IPO happen in the coming months? After all it's approaching a year. That plus Conduit are the only things I can see of any interest on the horizon

Wishful thinking I fear Joe. More like no news = a slow grinding decrease in the SP. Don't think there's any imminent news due in that we can look out for is there? New year, same old Vela. Time to switch off.....

Bad case of the what if's there Joe! I pulled the plug lower than 7.5, trying not to think about it. I reckon ARB is one of those shares that's really bad for the blood pressure, you just don't know whether you're going to lose the lot at any moment. Better off out of it, it may be rallying a bit last few days but everyone in there agrees that it's badly run, overstretched itself when BTC was flying and now doesn't have the resources to keep going for long now that the ar*e has dropped out of crypto. Say what you like about Vela but sounds like your average is nice and low, it's unlikely to run out of money in the immediate future, and you might get the chance to double your £ if we get a good p&d in the coming months.

So that's all very bullish and like everyone here I hope that's how it plays out and finally resolves and justifies that large investment that's dragged us so far down. But does anyone who knows pharma better than me see any potential problems that might crop up, I'm thinking along the lines of Conduit reassessing AZD1656 and deciding it's not worth commercialisation (or simply that no one wants it and they have to ditch it as an asset), or that it gets a deal for usage other than the purpose Vela invested in (although I guess the Phase II trials were for that specific purpose?). It's been a long road on this one already and despite the ENSI and CODE investments kind of keeping us afloat (let's not even look at the rest of the portfolio) I still see this as a binary share either win or lose on the success or otherwise of AZD1656. I'm no expert in pharma so would be interested to hear from anyone who might see more clearly what the remaining risks are.

At the risk of sounding dumb.... can anyone explain in plain English what the relationship between Vela and Conduit is now, and what effect that's likely to have one our SP long term? Things have changed so much since the initial SGS investment in Oct 20 that it's easy to lose track of who has a stake in what, how much of a stake, and what it might mean dependant in the various outcomes. As In understand it (in very basic terms) we retain a stake in the development and commercialisation of AZD1656 but only for a specific purpose re. covid / diabetes? Conduit own the AZD1656 asset nowadays and are obviously looking to commercialise it. Conduit are merging with Murphy in order to be NASDAQ listed, expected to happen in Q1 2023. After that presumably they'll press on with commercialisation of the drug?

If that's all the case then do we anticipate a jump in SP when the Conduit/Murphy merger takes place, potentially followed by a much larger jump if commercialisation ever actually happens? That seems to be my simple reading of things, happy to be set straight. Cheers.

what did you do with ARB in the end Joe? I gritted my teeth and jumped out in the 4's just can't see it recovering and BTC isn't coming to the rescue any time soon either by the looks of it (with apologies to anyone who doesn't like to see chat about other shares on this BB)

urgh who knows Joe_B. I still own some ARB from back in the day, I'd pretty much written it off even before today's suspension. Bitcoin is going to have to go on a crazy run to save that from going under and I just can't see it happening. At least here there's enough in the bank or that could be sold to keep the lights on if things turned really bad, the margins were always much finer over there. Serves me right for investing in to something without knowing enough about it

just the one 300 quid trade so far today and a 4% drop. vela sure is a miserable share at times

surprise surprise, an investment company does what it should do, buys low and sells at a profit. They bother to RNS it this time, traded volume and the SP goes up. It seems so basic but it seems to have been beyond this lot for so long. Let's hope they take note (knowing full well they won't)

If there's one thing we do know about our beloved BoD it's that they don't give much away, let alone a plan for a discount placing next week to some helmet sounding off on advfn. Ignore them Joe_B I'm pretty certain they don't know anything more than we do

Can't see there being much activity here for a while now, the quarterly has (eventually) been and gone which threw up more questions that answers. Laiker's also been and gone and along with him whatever new ideas he was bringing to the table, so we're back to square one again on investment strategy. There's a dwindling pot of cash, not small enough for us to be in trouble but not really large enough for any meaningful new investment. Pre the last spike I seem to recall us drifting as low as .017 I suspect we could see that again in the coming weeks. Personally I've stopped worrying about this share now, I've got my average to a place where at some point in the future I suspect we'll get to, even if just on a quick p&d at which point I can jump out, probably related to some kind of AZD commercialisation news or something around that investment. As the ENSI situation has graphically illustrated this week, the performance of the other investments appear to have no bearing on the SP at all. For now I'm just trying to push this one out of my mind, thinking about it just isn't healthy!

Ha, have we just been censored? Amazing. Brent's clearly a very sensitive soul isn't he? I've been trying my best to be positive today too!
