A perfect example of why poor communication is running this share down. We're stuck back under .02 again and because the quarterly is soooo late the investors start to wonder if something's up, not just on here but presumably the silent majority that aren't too. It could all be avoided by the board just getting the basics right and letting the world know what's going on at Vela. We've been here time after time but they just never learn and it's us that (literally) pay the price

Maybe the AZD1656/Igraine investments will be the making of this Joe, who knows? I mean I'm no fan of the board and their MO but having been trapped in here for a few years now I largely ignore the sp and I do think that we're a couple of decent decisions (put option being taken up, merger, maybe some judicious selling of some of the portfolio if cash is required rather than a raise) away from seeing this recover a bit. I can't believe after all my moaning that I'm saying this but by investing in 'early stage and pre-IPO long term disruptive technology investments' I guess it's always been a long hold, so probably best to bottom drawer it and see what happens. Maybe their long term strategy just isn't compatible with your short term in-and-out-quickly method?

Interesting RNS, not the one I thought we'd see this week - I'm no expert in mining but have held GGP, THR and POW before now so I do know that this RC technology is definitely in demand, as ever I guess it comes down to how well the company is run and what their order book looks like. But on the surface of it, this looks to me like a decent punt for the future. Time will tell.

Clue's in the name - it's a quarterly update to investors, last one was 10/02.... it's pathetic really, a couple of hours work for them to cobble it together and it's not for the purpose of making major announcements, that's covered by an RNS of it's own. This is just an update, a courtesy to those who have put their money in to their business, least they could do is push it out on time

Used to dabble in SYME a bit myself, trading the 10 or 20% swings but didn't understand the business properly or what it really was so I got out before I lost heavily. It always seems to be on the verge of something but it never quite seems to happen. I'm messing around with ASC at the moment but need to tread carefully there too, it's a bit volatile (with apologies for the chat about other shares but it's tumbleweed time around here at the moment)

I rather doubt that it's been delayed by them trying to figure out how best to deliver some wonderful news, I expect they've had a grueller of a week on the local golf courses and just haven't had a moment to put the quarterly together

Don't you think that would be too many eggs in that basket Joe? I know the rest of the portfolio's not exactly rocketing but at least it's diversification I'm not sure ploughing any more money in to pharma would be a great idea. It seems to take forever to come to anything

I think since the last RNS this is a much better bet than it has been since the big spike and rapid drop after the initial AZD1656 trial, whenever that was. 2 years ago? Can't quite remember, it all blends in to one since then. The problem is holding a rise which just seems impossible because good news only seems to spend a moment out there and the smell of bad news (in this case some shockingly bad investment choices) tends to linger around the portfolio. If the put option is taken up and the merger happens that'll get this in motion again and if they get 4 million quid to play with that'll definitely change things. Judging by the way it spikes on relatively little volume you'd have to think that .1+ isn't out the question if all that good stuff happens (come on BoD do your job and make it happen) but you might need to be swift on the sell button to get it. Worst thing as far as I can see would be to get greedy and hold on beyond your sell target in the hopes that it'll keep on going up a way more, the last few years suggests it'll crash back down again. Just my view and my plan, I'm sure there's plenty who would disagree

Oh they're hopeless, it's exactly this sort of thing that damages sentiment. If it was just a case that some of the calls they've made haven't worked out but they were all over it and clearly were trying to do something to turn things around I don't think we'd mind so much. It's the apathy and disinterest shown by the lack of comms that beats this down every time, and that should be the easiest thing of all to change. What happened to that PR company they brought in and are presumably paying?

Chill Joe. As long as the £4mil option is taken up and the merger happens this'll move north properly. You've been here long enough and own enough shares to know that this isn't a share to trade unless your timing is perfect and even then it's going to be a frustrating wait. I'm looking forward to being out of here soooo much but I can't be bothered moaning about it any more, just a patience thing like any other share

So Jimmy, sp has dropped away sub .02 will this trigger your 200mil buy? we're all looking forward to that one. Just curious (and bored)

Everything seems to be struggling today except Vela. I'm just enjoying finally being less than 50% down for the first time in months! I don't want to jinx it but we do now seem to be holding .02 easily enough and that last RNS was genuinely good, all the better for being unexpected. A decent quarterly would be nice, and then if msuk's sexy chart talk turns out to be correct we could actually see some positivity start to return

and a sea of buys here! Well, a very small sea. But still nice to see us heading upwards, a steady increase with a good sized bump or two on news of the put option being taken up / merger / Aeristech could indeed see it back in the .03's in the coming month or two. Fingers crossed.

Thanks THG very helpful. I guess now the hope is that the BoD will take up the put option fairly quickly, after all they have been willing to throw similar amounts at much worse prospects in the past. If/when the merger takes place then we really should finally have turned a corner here and might approach something like fair value once word gets out and the two things are completed. Last quarterly was 10.02 so hopefully one due in a couple of weeks. In the meantime it looks to be drifting back down towards where we've been for months but at least prospects are finally looking up in the medium/long term. You'd imagine that the put option is just a formality but the merger's obviously the risk remaining here and the bit Vela have no control over. The bigger risk was always no return on the SGSC investment so all in all I'd say it's not a bad time to be jumping in to Vela (he says having endured the last couple of years of teeth grinding drift and frustration)

Well quite. On the evidence of the last few years I wouldn't trust them with 4 million quid which is exactly why I'll sit tight a little longer to see the merger (hopefully) happen and the mcap rise significantly enough to get my money back maybe even plus a little bit, and that'll be lesson learned. AIM is just too unstable and sentiment driven with decisions ultimately resting on the judgement of one or two BoD members for my liking and Vela's been a prime example of it

Ha, this is classic Vela, can't even hold a rise after the best RNS in a couple of years. RNS released just before close of trading so no time for a proper day rise. Another master stroke.
In the interests of balance surely this will change sentiment in the medium term and make this very much more investable? Just need everyone involved in the merger to pull their finger out now.

Yeah I have but I still don't know whether you consider it to be a dead investment that'll be written off eventually, or a diamond in the rough waiting to make us all a fortune. Views on that seem to change week by week depending on the sp movement, which of course until the SGSC situation is decided and RNS'd is nothing to do with that investment, other than the sp being severely depressed because of the uncertainty of the £2mil in limbo and the destroyed sentiment resulting from a lack of progress or communication on it. Invoking SGSC as being about to pop every time the sp shows some signs of life is pointless, it's the same situation we've all been in for ages - if you don't choose to sell and take the hit then sit tight with everything crossed and wait for the RNS.
