What it blatantly needs to hold a significantly higher sp is for the BoD to reveal their hand - take some or all of the £ or leave it in there. Plus the quarterly, not because we expect anything particularly good in there regarding the rest of the portfolio but just for clarity's sake. Start with a clean slate so everyone invested, old or new, knows exactly where they are and what the plan is. I'm sure these masters of communication will be working on it right now....
Thanks for the update msuk
Lots of excited people here, good to see, it's been a long time coming.
So what are next moves/hurdles? Presumably the merger will need those "remaining closing conditions as stated in the Murphy announcement" to be ironed out, don't know if that'll happen straight away? Hopefully today. Then a follow up RNS from Vela saying whether they're cashing in or staying put. There's been mention of AZD1656 moving forward in which case maybe staying put would be a good idea?
This needs to be announced as quickly as possible as the market will only react properly to solid news. It just wouldn't do to interrupt JN and BF's long and lazy celebration breakfast though....
"another bucks fizz Brent?"
"yeah why not, we're celebrating after all"
"how's that quarterly coming on?"
"ah not bad, mostly done - I'll finish it this afternoon if I get time. god this omelette arnold bennett is delicious"
Only explanation is that they're sorting out the wording to add it to the (always overdue) 'quarterly' - you'd hope we'll see that at some point today
Given that a major part of the job of any board is to deliver shareholder value and attract new investment they're not the best are they? Get the news RNS'd and out there asap!
Well it's all eyes on the IR Press Release page then I guess. Who knows what the morning will bring but it's all very Vela that there's been no sp movement from open to close
So you know how we're all assuming that the merger's going to be voted through? Well, errrrr.... what happens if it doesn't? Is that another £400k down the drain, the initial £2mil+ investment in limbo and the share presumably goosed with no other decent investments to fall back on? Just a thought, obviously that's not going to happen - is it?
Yeah that's the way I'd see it - quick RNS tomorrow with the result to show they're paying attention then the quarterly next week. Probably hoping that the MURF situation will paper over any cracks. if this does break out tomorrow it'll be tricky to know when to hit the button for those planning to sell
Blimey, bit of a cagey start to the big day - no one feel confident enough to stick their hand in their pocket? Where's Jimmy when you need him?
Unlike Vela, which is, as usual, down.
The prospect of the merger's not exactly setting the market alight is it?
Well exactly, same here - JN's name was in lights at the time so it seemed a reasonable risk, plus I was pretty new to investing and didn't realise quite how volatile AIM was/is after I got lucky with my first few buys. Entirely my decision and I own it but my concerns with the BoD lie more in some of the dd they have or haven't done, some of the decisions to double down or hold on to obviously failing investments (MODE being the glaring example) and their very very poor communication. Not being able to push out a quarterly update on time just makes them look lazy and uninterested which isn't a good look for any potential new investors.
All that said I actually topped up/averaged down here yesterday - only a couple of mil which seemed to have the effect of actually lowering the sp - sorry!
Postie will always find the positives in CODE, ENET, MODE, TSP and all the other fabulous jewels in the Vela portfolio.... I should probably sell up if I don't like / take responsibility for my investment decisions / love the BoD a bit more etc etc
Oh yikes - let's hope they flogged some of them over the last couple of months!
No point obsessing over it though Joe you'll only lose sleep trying to second-guess what will happen. We've got so used to bad news around here we start to expect it but who knows, maybe we'll see a flurry of buying over the next 2 days followed by a positive merger outcome - stranger things have happened!
It's a potential week of glory for the board if they finally get a meaningful return on an investment - it's certainly been a while. The problem is plenty of us have been here so long we've seen them repeatedly fail to provide any value to shareholders so it's difficult to trust that they won't somehow balls this up too. I suspect there will be a lot of us waiting over the sell button on Wednesday (let's face it, Vela will RNS this waaaaay after the market knows the vote result if they stay true to form)
Weird isn't it, you can tell by the grammar and structure and tone that's it's a spam post not a person. Wonder what the point is? Imagine making your investment decisions based on what gets posted on BBs let alone by spambots posting on BBs.....!
Anyhoo hopefully the merger date is now within touching distance and some of us might be see a price where we can finally hit sell and move on. Fingers crossed
Maybe. If the BoD can be bothered, last 'quarterly' was about 3 months ago but as we all know, this shower work to a different calendar to the rest of the world
Is this Brent and JN after they've had a couple too many on a Sunday afternoon down the golf club, going home and setting themselves up an account each? Certainly sounds that way.
Agreed, that's my plan - I'll take a small loss, just not the 50% I'm sitting on currently
