Yeah totally agree, it's nice to see the SP wake up but there's a stack of unanswered questions still (don't expect any revelations on those any time soon) and the same people in charge who have been making mostly awful decisions for the last couple of years. Best not to forget Vela's amazing ability to disappoint!

Decent start. Let's see if we can keep it up. What a difference a decent RNS makes. What do people expect to see as next news following yesterday's announcement?

I'm still in mostly on account of it not tipping over beyond my average. It got close, but didn’t quite get there. If it had been a p&d like last spike I’d probably have taken a small loss just to be out of it after the last 18 months of frustration but this RNS has obviously changed things and it’s not unreasonable to think that it may creep back up towards .04 through the course of the next few days now that the day traders have been in and had their moment. I’ve been busy with my actual job today so haven’t really had time to re-read over the RNS properly and try to come up with a strategy going forward, I’ll do that this evening. It’s just a massive relief to see tangible positive news for a change. Hope some people made some decent money here today.

Me too. Exciting! I love the idea that some of the LTH's are going to be having a quick glance at Vela to see if there's any action and doing a massive double take when they see it at 100% up

Wow, proper action based on real actual good news. Been a looooooong time coming. Timely little early top up / average down for me this morning for a change! Let's see what happens across the day. Never doubted it for a second.....

That's the thing isn't it? There's nothing particularly surprising in this RNS that we weren't expecting, and the quarterly is never going to be used as a tool to release new investment targets or a change of strategy but as is becoming the pattern now, the numbers are slightly off and it raises those questions about why investors aren't kept abreast of disposals let along Laiker's big sell off. And yeah, now it'll drop back to radio silence the BoD having just fulfilled their minimum requirement for the next few months. Not enough cash in the bank to make new investments, and the current ones doing so badly that most are barely worth selling. Enough cash to make it through for a while. Great. Nothing's changed really, it all still hinges on recovering at least something from AZD but they've already told us that's not going to happen any time soon. They've absolutely destroyed sentiment here and have given very few reasons for any new money to come in.

Incompetent? Crooks? Utterly disinterested? Scared to deliver bad news? Holding on to deliver good news? Take your pick. Whatever the reason it's unprofessional behaviour

Top secret stuff that THG, not for distribution

Pretty much everything in my portfolio is rocking today, with just the one exception.....

Fairly crappy day all round out there today by the looks of it. It's a ghost town around here at the moment too, a trickle of titchy trades last few days and still nothing from our esteemed BoD to even give us all something to moan about.

Unfortunately I don't think so Joe - I don't know about Mode so I can't comment on that but bitcoin definitely could go down again, maybe even sub $19k. This recent 'recovery' has been a bit limp, it all seems a bit like old news. I could really do with it doubling in the coming months so I can offload a very ill-advised dabble in ARB from a while back.....

Funny thing is that this does still in theory have the potential to see that sort of rerate - if they announced commercialisation of the drug. I can't imagine there's many people out there confident that this will happen, but it's apparently 'ongoing' so there's a chance it could still happen.
Interesting indeed that THG's post was removed yesterday. That can only have been Brent or someone else on the BoD objecting to it but god only knows why they would, all it was was a list of investments and their value, something which Novus or whoever is supposedly in charge of this stuff is meant to be putting out any time now anyway. The mysteries over dealings, the shroud of secrecy now including the basic holdings and director transactions, the steady decline in the SP it all just goes on and on. Even if we're self employed or not working now I should imagine we've all experienced all sorts of workplaces through our lives and probably all learnt that the number 1 thing that annoys people is rubbish communication from the people making the decisions and handling the money. And in this case it's the money that investors like us have put in, so they have a duty to keep us up to date. But still they don't, and all that happens is people get bored and p*ssed off and lose all faith in the company. Rumours start springing up and we start to think something underhand is going on, it's just human nature. The BoD clearly look at this BB otherwise UncleJim and THG's posts wouldn't have been removed so they know how they're perceived. And yet they do nothing to address it, in fact they only ever seem to get worse. What a mess, and so easily avoided.

You may well be right about RNS on Monday demo, only I think it'll be a mildly disappointing quarterly update as opposed to anything that's going to push this to .03 let alone .12. I truly hope you're right but I'm not as convinced as some of you guys that there's something big going on behind the scenes right now

it's impossible to know because the BoD don't communicate on anything, not even the quarterly update that's due, and anything to do with SGSC has a shroud of silence and secrecy over it.

However it's great to see positive movement over a period of days instead of a one off p&d. We've had enough false dawns to make everyone cautious but let's all hope something is happening at last

That's the big worry isn't it? The only time I remember them actually selling anything was KNB way back (I may be wrong on this but can't recall anything else) so judging by the poor state of all the other investments it'll be a case of watching the remaining cash dwindle away and then having to try to raise some more from people like us for further dodgy investments. Guess we'll have to wait for the next update to see how much is still in the coffers

But almost everyone here will be down on their investment, some seriously down? I'm interested to know what's going to turn it in to a cracking investment in your opinion, what's going to change? Because I can tell you that when I first bought a couple of years ago it looked like a good bet but has turned out to be the worst performing share in my portfolio by a mile. It'll take provable numbers or seeing some kind of improved coherent plan from the BoD (not to mention an explanation for some as yet unexplained activity involving mismatches in amounts of shares held and how Laiker got 2 x the current price - and where those shares went) before I have any confidence here again.

Interesting theory - and according to that RNS last month he was clearly the one with the different vision for the future direction of Vela. You just might be near the truth on this, but we'd all love to know where all those shares went....

I'm genuinely curious - why is this a buying opportunity? The SP has only been going one direction for over a year now and for the reasons THG has just spelled out (and those are just the most recent reasons) it's mostly down to the poor performance of the BoD and shockingly bad communication absolutely smashing confidence and sentiment. I know some of you guys treat every new low as a great opportunity and a reason to be celebrate but surely at some point you've got to stop and wonder if blind faith that a share will eventually go up, backed up by zero numbers or hard evidence, is enough to justify ploughing thousands more £ in to it? I agree there are some excellent buying opportunities out there, just in places much more likely to give you a return than here.

I'm hoping they might expand on the 'strategic update' of early Sep soon although having looked back over it just now Laiker's name appears very prominently as the instigator of this potential change in approach, so maybe that's been ditched now -

"Following the appointment to the board of Antony Laiker, a significant shareholder in Vela, it has been agreed by the Board that, while not diverting from the Company's underlying investing policy, Vela will consider other corporate transactions whereby Vela's assets might be utilised to effect one or more larger transactions. Such transactions may include, but will not be limited to: i) an acquisition which constitutes a reverse takeover under the AIM Rules for Companies; ii) a substantial investment by Vela in a trading business; or iii) an acquisition of a division of a listed/quoted or private company"

If it gets to .04 you won't see me for dust, after a lot of effort that's now my average. Funnily enough I do think that given enough time it'll get back to that sort of price even if it's just during a p&d at which point I'll sell and not look back. Not looking very clever today though, it's the lowest it's been since I've been here. There will be no explanation to last week's business, we know that. There should be, but there won't be. I'm just hoping that this .04 that Laiker got is some kind of magic figure that we'll see sooner rather than later.
