RE: 2009 vs 202531 Jul 2025 17:39
You are very kind indeed Wetwater and same too Newtofo to have the patience to take the time to explain facts and figures in this type of investment on this board..... No surprise brokers down under have very much welcomed the changes at the top of the TBN [and confirmation that more will soon follow], appreciating too that former concerns that the so-called 'operator' of the 4.6 million acre Beetaloo Basin have been considerably eased. The Sheffield family, with so much commitment now to develop this play, are increasing market focus on our play, and as and when they achieve at TBN successful fracking of a 3 kilometre horizontal well, there will be many more parties who will want to join them and take a slice of the action.
Given what has happened over the last 2 years and where we are now, and assuming success of one or more of the next 3 wells planned, on fundamentals Falcon shares ought to significantly outperform TBN shares on the basis of comparative enterprise values and acreage. What's more Falcon has lower ORRIs than TBN and is clearly more attractive at this early stage with a 22.5% stale, unlike TBN, in almost every DSU. Most parties will prefer too to enter into an investment with Daley Waters as the operator.
As most people see this, the Sheffield family are in control of this big play but they know that whatever next steps they have planned to work with parties they are comfortable with, they will have to move sooner rather than later once individual rates of return become clearer and bank finance can realistically substitute for equity in future. It's fortunate too that Falcon unlike TBN that has a handful of major investors who own more than half of the company, has a very diverse share register and the continued suspension of the 18% Russian shareholding which protects it from a low ball offer. Any takeover will require a directors' approved deed of arrangement, and parties will want to commit before the end of next year, otherwise postponing their move, as Newtofo rightly pointed out, will increase competition and the necessity to pay a premium. IMHO some larger investors may also have an option of investing in future directly in a private equity fund.
