Thanks fordm - like the dog analogy. It doesn't remotely surprise me that other countries view us with a mixture of bewilderment and disbelief. That's kind of how I feel about most things for 95% of the time.
Anyway - that price spike was more than enough excitement for 1 day, so I'm off to the pub.

Hope the koi pond/pool is coming along nicely, and that the current supply chain issues aren't adversely affecting your supply of posh European biscuits.
When you have a minute, I would be interested to know how the current political shenanigans in this country are perceived in Switzerland. Cheers.

Well, despite still being invested here (quite heavily by my lowly standards) - I no longer care whether the price is 70p or £2.50. This is because, having just read the news, it is obvious to me that -
a) I will be dead in the next week or two from the latest surge in covid cases - " covid cases jump by 30%".
b) I will be dead by next Wednesday from the extreme heat - " national emergency declared after first red extreme heat warning".
c) Failing this, if I have to endure a few more weeks of watching the latest batch of power-crazed megalomaniacs crawling over each to try and get the top job, I will probably just put my head in the oven.
It actually feels quite liberating.

Potty - and todays tip??

2020 - Total disaster. Covid/ lockdowns/ air travel decimated/ share price decimated. Totally s**t year.

2021 - Vaccine rollout, things must surely improve ( price recovers somewhat to about £2 in March/April ). Wrong. Ongoing restrictions and lockdowns/Omicron. Extremely limited travel - share price tumbles again. Another s**t year.

2022 -This must surely be the year when things improve after 2 catastrophic years, as covid travel restrictions slowly reduce, and air travel returns to normality ( price recovers to £1.70 plus ). WRONG. Putin invades Ukraine, fuel price rockets, inflation soars. What else could possibly go wrong? Staffing issues ,airport chaos, threat of strikes etc. etc. Price falls of a cliff (again). Now more than halfway through the year, and the share price hovers barely above £1. Another s**t year.

2023 - After THREE disastrous years, things must surely, finally, improve? If only I believed that. Any confidence I might have once had has been totally eviscerated.

£1.06. FFS.

The share price and myself seem to be in sync today - a dodgy start, but now picking up a bit. Always the potential for an afternoon crash, but hopefully not

Well, the sun is out - another beautiful day coming by the looks of it, so I am not going to waste it staring at a computer screen. I am now fully resigned to being invested here for the long haul (sorry)- probably till next year some time, which is a pain in the a**e, but not the end of the world. At some point the situation must surely improve, and our share price with it. Then again, after the last couple of years, who knows - perhaps there will be a nuclear war, or a 1930's style depression .Either way, I am tired of fretting over it - it's done me no good at all, and achieves nothing. Hopefully I will be proved wrong, and positive news at the end of the month will see the price here rise rapidly. Who knows? At the current price there is surely more upside potential, than downside. Let's hope so.

Anyway - I intend to take my life in my hands , emerge from my bunker (triple -masked, obvs.), and head off into the great British countryside -the Cotswolds again, or possibly Sussex if I'm feeling adventurous.. A few cold ones in a nice beer garden while admiring the young ladies in their skirts/shorts - while they admire me in my (zebra-striped) mankini. Let's hope there's no need for the police this time.

fordm - please don't even joke about further restrictions - that literally sends a chill down my spine. If that really is going to happen, should we not all sell up now while we can at least get something back?

I do believe that's 2 days consecutive rise - taking us up to the dizzy heights of £1.09. Only another 60% to get back to where we were 5 months ago. FFS.

jtan/fordm - thanks for your support. We have been here before - the idea that you can never stray outside the narrow confines of the share price is ridiculous.

Much as I am deeply invested here, and want a good outcome, it has turned into a really beautiful day, and I have just had a little cruise around the Cotswolds - magnificent -and priceless. Easy to get wrapped up in the markets/ political shenanigans, but important to see beyond that. Note to self - do what I say, not what I do.
Life is short.

Last couple of days - EZJ up over 8%, IAG up over 6% (albeit both from a very low base). The beginning of a revival, or yet another false dawn?

Putin (not to mention Xi, Jong-un etc) must be wetting himself laughing as he watches a western democracy defenestrate itself, and one of his fiercest critics depart.

Not wrong about the customer service here fordm - for the most part it is an embarrassment. It really is highly inconvenient for them to take our money off us.

Skindle - good one, I had forgotten all about that classic. Bringing back some great memories.
fordm - I take it from your earlier comment that you are not a Gove fan?

jtan - on the bright side, the Jet2 results are for the full year (which we have already had) and therefore include the whole covid/omicron period, but not the last 3 months when flying has really taken off (sorry) - despite the ongoing issues. Our next results are Q2, which covers this period (obvs), and should be much improved, especially compared to 12 months ago. Only 3 weeks to wait until we find out.

Jet2 results have not gone down well, but thankfully we haven't followed them - yet.
PS - Before anyone else points it out, I am well aware that they are a very different animal.
