hi fordm - good to be back. just catching up on some posts, and i see you have managed to rattle some cages. it's pathetic, isn't it? some people don't seem to realise it's an open forum, and think they can dictate the spectrum which can be debated here. how boring would that be? anyway, it reminds me of people who write in to complain about a tv programme they don't like, conveniently ignoring the fact they have the option of changing channels or switching off. i disapprove of lots i read here (and elsewhere), but i don't ***** about it to the headmaster, i just suck it up and move on, or maybe respond if i can be arsed. it's called debate.

James/saintnickle. Firstly, criticising the orange cre tin, doesn't mean you have Trump Derangement Syndrome. That's a classic gas lighting policy, to defer from the truth, and one adopted by people with an IQ lower than their shoe size, like you. Trump is possibly the greatest snake-oil salesman in history, but you are quite happy to buy his products. People who know far more about this than you and me, like Joe Kent (formerly head of counter-terrorism) have called out this war in Iran, and the (alleged) reasons for it, as a blatant lie. This guy, who has more credibility and integrity in his toenails, than , Hesgeth, Trump and Vance have in their whole bodies, is a lifelong Republican, who previously vouched for Trump, before realising he had been duped. He then had the decency to call it out, and walk away. Of course, Trump being Trump, he instantaneously went from being an ally to being a "loser". Pathetic.

Now in the fourth month of the "excursion" which was supposed to last 2 weeks, and what has been achieved? The regime is still there, and more hard-line than ever; their uranium may be underground, but is still there; the Strait of Hormuz, which was previously functioning perfectly well, is now closed, with catastrophic results for the global economy, and your average Iranian citizen's life is even worse than it was 4 months ago. Who would have thought that starting a war in the Middle East could have unforseen and negative consequences? Well, my cat (Archie) for one. And before any of you half-wits say it, opposing this senseless conflict does not mean you support the Iranian leadership.

This is fun, isn't it? Apart from manipulating, the markets, I also wonder if Donny has invested heavily in Xanax - God knows I need some. For now, though, I am sticking with the old favourites - Smirnoff and Stella/Peroni. No prescription required! Anyway,just to say that I hope people realise that my earlier post regards my monetary and housing wealth was meant as a joke - a satirical take on the fact the last few years have been quite generous to those who were already wealthy. For the rest of us; not so much.

Anyway, my financial situation/ share dealing, had been pretty good for quite some time until the orange fu**wit intervened, but the last 3 months have taken a toll on my bank account and liver. Hence I am off to the Betty Ford clinic to (hopefully) sort myself out. See you in a couple of weeks. What will the price here be then? Hard to tell with the psycho twins in charge, but I'll go for somewhere between £9 and £13.50.

All the positive talk over the weekend, now you have renewed US strikes in Iran, and more Israeli attacks on Lebanon. Trump can't stand the thought of being out of the limelight (and not being able to manipulate the markets), while Netanyahu needs cover for his own nefarious deeds and actions. And I don't really see how you can cobble together a last-able agreement that includes the nuclear issue in a matter of days, or even weeks/months, when it took years back in the 2010's. Obama's agreement was almost certainly superior to anything the Trump clan could cobble together. Of course, Trump ripped that very workable agreement up, because it's all about him, and he couldn't stand the thought of Obama getting any credit. Now the issue is far more complicated, as it involves the Strait of Hormuz, not to mention the understandable lack of trust the Iranians have, and the need for reparations (not sure how you compensate for murdered schoolgirls).

So the upshot is that we are now in a far worse position than we were prior to all this, and what exactly has been achieved? 3 months into "Donny and Ben's Excellent Adventure", which was supposed to last a few weeks, and which has been "almost finished" on multiple occasions, and the whole thing is a complete shambles. Those crew on ships stuck in the Strait must be getting pretty angry by now. Join the queue.

Fordm - the"economy is in the shatter". What are you talking about? Fifteen years ago I was only worth £20 million quid, and was down to my last 3 houses. Now I've got about £85 million (hard to keep track exactly), and my property portfolio is up to about 30 (hard to keep track exactly).

Hi fordm - always good to hear from you - hope the family is all good. I'm guessing you love the orange clown almost as much as I do. It's deeply worrying - an extreme (toxic)narcissist/megalomaniac like him shouldn't even be allowed to visit the White House, let alone occupy it. All the talent at their disposal, and this cretin ends up in charge. Their system truly is broken. As for Cuba, I guess he wants to turn it into a giant Trump golf course/resort. He must be so proud of impoverishing Cuban children to suit his own ends. Where will this all end? I can't see him wanting to give up his stranglehold on power when his current term ends, so who knows how that will play out. Nothing he does would shock me.

Not much more to say really - it's all very depressing. Anyway, it's good to see that you still have the fire in your belly. I need to work on turning that frustration/depression into anger. We all should.

Mike - I love your posts; nothing but respect, but on this occasion I have to disagree. You have made the classic mistake of giving any credence whatsoever to ANYTHING Trump says. I literally would not believe him if he said the sun rises in the East and sets in the West. Total fantasist, and a man who redefines the definition of extreme "toxic narcissism". Once he is gone from office (please God), he will be fully revealed for what he is. Apparently, he can't even read his Whitehouse briefs unless they have TRUMP written all over them. It's all (and exclusively) about him. Gavin Newsom has said that to trump, it doesn't matter whether it's good or bad, as long as it's about him. That's part of the reason for this war - it helps keep him in the headlines. Even his former head of anti-terrorism has said there was no imminent threat from Iran, and the idea that Iran (even assuming it had the capability - which it doesn't - would launch a pre-emptive strike against Israel/Europe/USA, is nonsense. |But that is exactly what Trump said to a group of 10 year olds in the Oval office a few days ago, telling them without his intervention, they would all be dead. Who does that? The man redefines the phrase "toxic narcissism". If it was some bloke propping up the bar in the local boozer, it would be slightly amusing. The president of the USA ?- scary.

Once he is gone , and can no longer bully/threaten anyone who disagrees with him, the truth will come out, and reveal him for the megalomaniac, sociopathic thug that he is. A stain on the history of a once great country.

Good post Swimmer, and never apologise for a rant - I enjoy them myself, and they are good for one's blood pressure and mental health. If you don't mind me saying, while I enjoyed your contribution, it was possibly a little too polite and restrained to be considered a genuine rant. Perhaps add a little more anger, a dash of frustration, and a sprinkling of venom. The occasional (well placed) profanity can also help.I suggest you check out an American comedian called Bill Burr. Now that bloke knows how to properly rant.

As for the situation here, looks like another day of gently drifting down, which I guess is how it will be until this is resolved one way or another. How and when (if?) that will happen, I have absolutely no clue. Unfortunately, I don't think the main protagonists do either. All very frustrating/depressing.
