I despair over this whole situation. This utter s**tshow was so predictable from the moment it started. I have absolutely no clue where or how this will end. If you think he cares about the Iranian people, you are bonkers. I read a piece in The Times the other day that reduced his intervention here to one word - machismo. "my army is bigger than yours" , "my weapons are bigger than yours" etc. It's pathetic. Just look at his behaviour - how he treated Zelenski in The White House, and how he welcomed Putin to Alaska.He can't go more than 10 words without bragging about something. If he thinks someone is on his side, he declares them the best thing in the world - until they disagree with him, then he calls them "losers" like a 10 year old in the playground. Beyond pitiful.

If you think I have any sympathy for the Iranian regime, you are (again) - bonkers. In a theoretical world, if you could get rid of them, and install a different regime, then of course I would be in favour. But this is reality, not theory, and regime change won't happen unless you want a land invasion, and hundreds of thousands of soldiers involved. Good luck with that.

As Trumps own people are now saying; Iran represented no immediate threat to to the West, and all that has happened is that things have been made worse - globally, but also for the Iranians themselves. According to Trump,It was supposed to be a 3 or 4 week "excursion". How's that looking now? Trump thought it would be like Venezuela. TWAT. And by the way, my thoughts on this have nothing to do with my investment here - I would feel the same if I had zero shares. And it's funny (sort of) that people now saying that this intervention is correct because of what an imminent threat Iran is, were silent only weeks ago.

Anyway, that's enough rambling from me for one night (or possibly a year) , but I am tired of peoples naivety. Wake up and see Trump for what he is before it's too late - he's a way bigger threat than Iran. MadMat - thanks for that - very interesting, and extremely scary. And as the guy in the podcast points out, what's just as scary is the fact that he is surrounded by sycophants who just look the other way, so they don't lose their jobs. Lord knows where this will all end, and by that I mean the Iran conflict, and also Trumps presidency in general. You only have to listen to him speak (which I now try not to do) to realise he is completely unhinged. If he wasn't President, people would just ignore or laugh at him.

On a lighter note, nice to see Wizz up slightly again. Perhaps this parrot is not quite dead yet. Then again, that largely depends on how the Iran situation develops. Which brings us back to Trump....

Hi fordm, hope you are well. Don't really want to get too embroiled in the M/E debate - geopolitics not really my forte, but your words "I never felt in danger by Iran" certainly rang true with me. I've heard so much drivel over the last couple of weeks about how much a threat Iran is to Britain, but it never even crossed my mind (and I'm sure that's true of most people). And now ,

apparently, even prior to this conflict, Iran had been about to launch a drone attack on California. Seriously? Utter nonsense. While I absolutely shed no tears for the leaders that got killed 2 weeks ago, look where we are now. Pandora's box truly opened, and who knows where it will all end. Just what the world needed- another conflict, and in the most febrile part of the world. Utter madness. I don't see this ending anytime soon, although Trump, having the attention span of a gnat, will probably get bored, and move on to his plans to take over Greenland. Or Canada. Or Mexico .Or Colombia.

Anyway, I don't seem able to sort out my own petty little problems, so expecting me to sort out the M/E is a bit of a stretch. Some anxious times coming up for idiots like me invested in airlines, although obviously that is of zero consequence compared to the lives, and livelihoods, of those directly impacted. I would pray for a quick and peaceful resolution, but that would be pointless, as there is clearly no God.

What a fun 2 weeks it has been. Closed at 1336 on Feb 26, then the Indigo news, broke, and the following day Iran was attacked: now here we are struggling to hold £9. Not sure where we go from here, the Americans (or Trump at least) obviously don't seem to know what their overall objectives, are, or exit strategy is, so I don't really know if this will wind up in a week or three, or still be raging in 6 months time. And every time Trump opens his mouth on this subject, he can either drive the oil price up or down, with the subsequent impact here. Depends what mood he's in - unpredictable doesn't get close to it. Crazy times.
