Just returned from the pub (again) and see that the price here is forecast to double! Sorted!. Think I'll return to the boozer to (somewhat prematurely) celebrate.
Also - I am not happy with Casio-kid and fordm. Their earlier posts were articulate and thought provoking. Clearly they are after my POTY title.
"If you come for the king, you'd best not miss" ( The Wire").
Bring it on.
Turns out that was a conservative estimate - a pleasant surprise. Upgraded from Peroni to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Next stop Bollinger. Just hope Beijing doesn't choose this weekend to attack Taiwan.
Guess I'm just a glass-half-empty sort of bloke. Unless it's champers.
After my 5.9p/170 comment on Sunday, we (rather predictably) dropped om Monday morning - so to recover, and hit that 170 within 48hrs is very encouraging. Just need to hold at this level going into the Easter weekend.
4 days of no markets? Whatever will I do with myself?
Cheers Skindle - need to up my game if I am to retain my POTY title for a third year - fordm has been on form lately, plus there's yourself, and a few others set to challenge.
Unfortunately, my post yesterday evening has precipitated a fall today, but hopefully we will soon regain that, and hit that mythical 170 mark by Friday.
The airlines (not just this one) should have a busy summer to look forward to, and once the first drop in interest rates is announced (here, or across the pond) that, along with news of high passenger numbers, should give us a boost. Of course, history has taught us that none of us know what is around the corner, and the world is in a particularly febrile state. I am, however, a little more optimistic than I have been.
If that's not the kiss of death here, I don't know what is.
Fordm - so cynical. I totally agree!
As for the interest rate, at some point soon there will be a move downwards - and that will definitely be a positive day for the markets. Only problem is, when will that day actually arrive? If it's left to Bailey, about 2028.
PS - 3 Peroni's, 1 Sauv. Blanc - sorted.
Fordm - thanks for that very lucid, eloquent explanation - much appreciated.
Not sure this "dividend" idea will catch on here anytime soon. As for the champagne, I'm afraid it's not enough for that - but does justify a Peroni or two: possibly a glass of New Zealand sauvignon.
A few more weeks like this, and it may be time to get the Dom Perignon out. Here's hoping.
As well as here, I also have some shares in another airline, and when I checked my account earlier, I noticed there was actually MORE money in it! Apparently I have been given something called a "dividend". Not complaining - extra cash is always welcome - but I just wondered if anyone else had ever experienced this phenomenon, and if so perhaps you could explain it to me.
Many thanks.
Actually turning into a very good day. Glad I turned back from Beachy Head yesterday. I will shortly be celebrating with a chicken bake and a pint of prosecco -we're not quite at the Dom Perignon point yet, and we have had so many false dawns here that I feel it's important to not get carried away.
PS - no phone call yet. What a tease.
Futures up heavily. US airlines up overnight. Hopefully that will translate to a bounce here. Also, my local Greggs has reopened (woo-hoo!). All I need now for the hat-trick is a phone call from Kylie. Has a corner finally been turned?
"Things can only get better". Bo****ks.
It's just one thing after another - Brexit / political upheaval / Covid / Ukraine / energy prices / cost of living crisis / climate change /Middle East etc. etc. ( I could go on, but life's too short).
And now this - Greggs stores closed due to I.T. problems. I got through all that other stuff (just), but this is too much. The straw that broke the proverbial camels back.
Beachy Head, here I come.
Of course, we have been here before on multiple occasions, only to see it all disappear over the coming days. Perhaps this time will be different.
Isn't thinking like that a clinical definition of insanity?
Sund - no offence, because you strike me as someone over-optimistic, as opposed to a blatant ramper, but it's time to get real.
At some point this will rise - correct. The important question is - will I still be alive when it happens?
IAG might go up next month - possible, yes.
I might sleep with Kylie Minogue next month. Possible? Yes.
But somewhat unlikely.
