We are by no means out of the woods yet, but this is definitely a positive sign. Hopefully neither side wants a return to military strikes. Tehran definitely seems to have held out an olive branch today. Let's just hope that Trump is not stupid, or arrogant enough, to ignore it. Keeping the straits open hopefully advantages both sides. How about Iran agrees to keep the straits open, and give up its uranium stock, and USA agrees to war reparations, and removal of sanctions? That way, both sides could claim "victory". Of course, that would require a degree of humility and common sense on both sides. So it almost certainly won't happen.

Emerald - I agree. The Strait has now been effectively closed for 6 1/2 weeks, and with no immediate resolution in sight, the consequences of this don't seem to have fully sunk in. If it's not resolved sharpish, I do fear for the price, and supply, of oil, and the subsequent consequences - generally, but especially for us beleaguered holders of airline stock. Worrying.

If he bought those on your recommendation, you should definitely be getting your windows polished for free (not a euphemism).

Betterlife - spot on. I have (unfortunately) just caught another clip of Trump on TV. The man is stone cold bonkers, and completely deluded. I can't wait for the day when he is no longer president, and all his yes-men (and women), who are only going along with him to preserve/ advance their own situation, head for the exit. Frank6 - I think we will be lucky to see £14 this year, but with the current situation, who the hell knows? Certainly not me. Looks like our Israeli chums are already doing their best to f**k things up (again). They are completely out of control. Anyway, I am a holder here, so would love to see £20, but with the inflated fuel prices, the debt, and the general uncertainty, I just can't see it. If this current situation hadn't happened, then it may have reached that level , but yet another"black swan" event has scuppered us. Always something with this sector. You would have thought that after covid, the Ukraine invasion, and Trumps tariff debacle (amongst other things), we were due a little good luck, or at least a period of stability. But no. Who could seriously have predicted this scenario at the start of the year?

All rather depressing, so I have decided to head off to Beachy Head on Friday. Not to jump off the cliff, just to get royally pi**ed in The Tiger in East Dean - awesome pub - check it out online. Then again, if the price heads south again, it's only a 10 minute walk from there....
