But did you know it can also mean "a place or scene of bloodshed"? Don't get my hopes up. We're coming up to Bonfire Night - we need the next Guy Fawkes to step forward.

PS - It seems to me that events are now driving us towards a general election sooner rather than later, and I can't see how that will end in any other fashion than a defeat for this government, and a Starmer/Raynor led government, possibly with a splash of Ed Davey and Sturgeon thrown in. No matter what we individually politically think of that, the markets will hate it. Another macro factor to consider? Like we haven't got enough already.
Anyway, on that happy note, have a truly joyous evening - I have to go now as Ac's bucket needs emptying.

PS - I too find the scaling back of the energy bill support scheme to be of concern. The government (ha ha ha) has been keen to point out that this alone would knock several points off the inflation rate. If it is withdrawn, where does that leave us?

Two weeks ago today we hit 90 pence. So we are up 25p, or roughly 27%, in two weeks. Now I can't say we are completely out of the woods - plenty of choppy waters ahead (apologies for the mixed metaphors), but despite the still low price, we are definitely in a better place, and seem to be heading in the right direction. I for one certainly feel more confident about the future here - just wish I had had more funds to top up in the 90's.
Of course, recent history has taught me to not get carried away, and that if something can go wrong, it almost certainly will. Still, let's hope the recent trajectory continues, and then we can all have a (slightly more) Merry Xmas.
PS - hope this doesn't put a jinx on us.

No thanks - I'll take seeing the debt brought down, which would send a really clear signal to markets that we're back on track, and help drive the share price higher - there's your real dividend.
