I know I have been following & reporting this as a worry for a while & each time I’m told it’s nothing to worry about from BT’s perspective. But I’ll carry on sharing info in the hope you are right, but give you the chance to factor in the risks into your SP calculation

This makes perfect sense to me, SKY is owned by a cable company now, they won’t like non DOCSIS networks. Loosing SKY customers from Openreach will be painful, far more damaging than VM mobile leaving EE this year.

Velo - I think you are saying analysts have continuously under estimated profit quarter on quarter, but have not corrected themselves when the “actual” numbers are reported.

Subsequently their figures are behind the numbers reported

Therefore BT will hit their yearly numbers of just over £2bln, whilst a view from the analysts shows they probably won’t. Unless they have an exceptional 4th quarter

Add to that lack of investment for the future in terms of nation infrastructure and individual businesses, along with disturbed trading arrangements with compromises, less influence & of course threats to the UK itself are not conditions where U.K. based companies will suddenly look like attractive investments

How ever when it comes to these examples BT is in a different market place. For a start those new on demand tv producers in the main compete in English, whereas non English speaking areas might find it easier to get a foot hold & the U.K. is the home of sky sports, BT in my opinion would damage itself failing to take on sky head on, on its own, which is the reason why I’d like to have seen a partnership with Apple for instance or amazon.

Excellent article Fleccy - I think I understood the principle of ftse highs not being based on good fundamentals & therefore susceptible to volatility based on external forces. That article settles any argument where FTSE is used as evidence to suggest country and market is in good shape. That will be the hidden billions & billions of pounds lost because of charlatans being taken seriously.

I agree poker, same is true of our country, others have increased dept but now have better infrastructure, trains, roads etc. Maybe BT got caught up with the U.K. austerity drive.... I don’t know? Some times BT does get it right, but then don’t drive home the advantage, they seem to sit back. BT sport for example is excellent, I think almost leading the way with its production, whereas Bt tv, I feel that fell behind a bit, where as there might have been an opportunity to lead a tv revelation rather than trying to compete with set top boxes. Sky’s NOW tv has now started to fill that promise. I read couple of years ago BT could have partnered with Apple TV .... I notice (I think it was) Switzerland incumbent has partnered with them. I’d just like to see some risk taking like that, because BT won’t replace revenue losses by playing safe. IMO

So Pete, what are your thoughts on the current BT share price ? & market in general, I’m not sure ftse is high because of improved economic conditions or business performance, low pound and promises that can’t be delivered without higher national income. I hope not but, bumpy road, rats Poo in food and poisonous chickens, along with higher drug costs might burst this fairy liquid bubble.
