RE: Have Telecons Had Their Day14 Feb 2020 19:21
NDN - I’ve done my research and understand there is a strategy to lower maintenance costs & if achieved will be a positive.
I doubt this cost saving will balance out the inferred risk (if it happens) of BT investing £30bln & then not being able to leverage its advantage (if indeed it has one)
Not being able to leverage its assets might be because regulator stops it, but it might also be because competition can do it cheaper, so for example (as discussed) Virgin are able to upgrade 53% of the UK’s population to a 1Gbts Briadband option for only £millions....
You can argue about national coverage, but I don’t accept remote areas are a positive when Virgin has concentrated its efforts where the population is.
Being able to offer these speeds for these costs is a significant advantage & as I’ve already said, in my opinion there is another risk which is virgin could offer this SKY access, where virgin network and sky customers overlap as part of a wider deal for Comcast to bank roll a larger national deployment
It’s all fiction until it happens, but as per convo with Fleccy these are the head winds I see as risks to my investment (possible risks)
Researching liberty and Comcast tells me this kind of big move fits their operational history
