Fleccy - VM Vodafone backhaul agreement is all there as part of the deal to move virgin mobile to Vodafone away from EE

Everything else all you are doing is describing BT loosing their full wholesale deals on the busy mast sites and left only with the hardly used sites in rural areas. Essentially you are describing exactly what I’m calling a negative against BT’s bottom line.

As for VM using BT tails, yes they do where their network doesn’t extend to, but these are few and far between and getting fewer. Another reduction in revenue

& there’s some irony in there that essentially O2 formally Cellnet might be used as a weapon against BT over the coming years. I guess that sake was born out of necessity but at the time if left me scratching my head ?

Anyway the good news is I bought back into BT Friday after selling a portion of my stake end of Feb. It’s been a while since I’ve read through this board, glad to see some of the blow hards have moved on.

The O2 announcement caught me off guard a bit, I was have bet good money Virgin Media and Vodafone would have teamed up / merged.?

Fleccy - you’ve lost your way now. Virgin media supply services nationally on their network....... & again O2, VODAFONE & THREE are going to use it to backhaul a lot of their mobile masts from it. I can only assume you are intimating VM haven’t cabled / networked the areas that aren’t commercially attractive.

This is about VM eating into BT’s national network / wholesale business. Nothing to do with content, lack of or false equivalence.

Vodafone, three & probably O2 don’t agree with your assessment of VM’s capability?

As a minimum this is a method of reducing BT’s charges, which again isn’t a “no difference” conclusion is it?

Hi NDN - I’m sure part of what you say will be correct, but even so this is the thin edge of a bigger wedge, it’s also a direction of travel & there’s no reason to believe where commercially viable VM will continue to connect these sites as their network expands or as mobile operators demand. It demonstrates quite a wholesale capability. It also starts to look like BT are left with the leftovers where VM don’t see it as commercially viable

Fleccy I don’t think you are thinking this through & the logic you use is strange to me.

You have been arguing this point for years with me & each time you miss the point

VM has much more network than its franchise area, all its franchise areas are connected.

Mobile masts will follow population & VM franchise areas cover a huge % of that population

You can carry on arguing this point forever but the facts are

VM have major backhaul deals with VODAFONE, THREE & probably O2...... them’s the actual facts of the matter.

This of course only leaves one mobile operator without.

Assumptions about lack of network and commercials don’t change this inconvenient truth, we would get on much better is you could stop denying it or explain it?

Not seeing any analysis on this site during discussions around liberty & O2 tie up around wider competition. Liberty / VM already have major backhaul deals with Vodafone when they moved their virtual mobile service from EE to Vodafone. Liberty & Three have just signed a deal to backhaul their 5G traffic..... and after the O2 merger they will backhaul there’s too. All together this is a major blow to BTs backhaul business and needs consideration before declaring a VM / O2 merger “makes no difference”

A virgin media fibre cut affecting sky customers (but not BT) ....... I thought Sky only used openreach ? Currently ? I find this interesting

All these right wing loons hated how people like Soros made so much money from market crashes. Anti vaccinations, various global instabilities, Brexit etc etc etc etc could all be seen as triggers to make money from unstable markets. This virus will be a god send, they will have been able to invoke their investment plans..

The real worry is not how low it will go, it’s whether these shares will continue to not track a market recovery on the way up again?

If you were lucky enough to see it coming well done, as I’m caught up in it, I can’t see the pointing of jumping out now, so I’ve joined long term holders

Market is (I think) telling us the covid virus is going to get worse & / or the cure a probable ban on travel and world economy stop is even worse.

Avrohom - love to understand your mind bending logic on how a network infrastructure company could pay for national upgrades without charging enough to pay for it? If anything BT really needs to be allowed to increase its wholesale prices, so other operators contribute more, the idea of “other companies paying a standard minimum charge “ is in part the reason everything is in such a mess. Personally I’d stop reading telegraph, it’s not what it was.

Interesting to see a 10m share buy at 5 to 4 this afternoon, certainly gave it a good kick
