RE: NHS Scotland to get 12-minute Covid test kit - not ours26 Aug 2020 20:05
PL75 was pushing for me to name competition to AVCT earlier. I did, and since then in just a few hours we find out several companies none of us had heard of before have been developing rapid tests. Which only goes to prove the point I was making earlier.
Everyone will be screaming, "ah but it's not as good as ours". Doesn't matter, all these different permutations of rapid test ultimately detract from AVCT's ability to dominate with it's own test. Again I stress, without AVCT getting it's products to market months before everyone else, the door to make money from royalties offering our platform to other companies closes. AVCT will have to make money the hard way, by manufacturing and selling it's own test. They need to see a lot of tests to justify a half million mcap.
On top of that, the test 12 minute test that has just come to light, or another permutation of it could easily come to dominate testing at airports, hospitals etc. In situations like that you could have just a few trained staff operating the machines at those venues and the tests would likely cost pennies as they would literally be a piece of paper. In situations like that, the 12 minute test mentioned in the article could win big.
Not deramping, just trying to get people to appreciate as I explained earlier, that AVCT isn't the only company in the world and other companies are developing tests much faster than people realise. A test that wins out doesn't necessarily need to be self contained to dominate the mass testing sector in airports, business', schools, stadiums etc. In fact a test that isn't a self contained test like ours would prove more reliable as it would require oversight in those situations plus it would be far cheaper than ours. If AVCT don't get a move on they could end up with a test, that although advanced in many ways, simply becomes a novelty for people who want to test themselves at home.
