As usual, Av. has fallen faster.

Hugh-Jarse, Drew57, thanks for that. I did hold HSBA but used the general Covid19 dip to jump ship without expecting a dividend as a result - a lucky move. I have never held Barclays and now I never will.

My only bank shares now are Santander freebies. Banks had their day and they blew it IMO.

As a long term holder I'd agree that now MIGHT be the best opportunity to buy this stock there's been for years. As a bit of a gamble. We need a predator.

As far as I am aware companies cannot cancel once the ex-d date is gone. Can you prove me wrong with some examples please, if nothing else they would be companies to avoid like the er.. ..plague.

Took profits today, rightly or wrongly. I felt I'd got in too high a week ago and was happy to exit in profit for other opportunities. Will watch for a lower entry point.

Just moved another slice from AV. to LGEN. I want the dividend and I also remember back when Aviva or whatever its name was at the time was trading £1 above Prudential. Imagine that! Like a fool I kept sticking to AV. hoping for the best but it never came. I've also done nicely out of MNG of late but I think I'll leave the Pru alone for the time being.

Seems to me that Shell is not simply an oil company any more. Its stated ambition is to be an energy company and it must be very well equipped to reduce its oil dependency, as it has been doing partly by low-key strategic purchases. The demand for energy isn't going away, our survival depends on it and we will go on wanting more of it.

Dumber and dumber? Just bought in at 1288. Maybe it'll come good in November.

I've a moderately diverse collection of stocks and only one (motor industry) is doing worse than Av. It's an odd company especially since Adrian Montague arrived. The chairman has held some remarkable posts with little sign of achievement. He has a reputation for being a 'charming facilitator'. If Aviva can find a successor this year (they aren't great at recruitment) it'll need to be someone of John McFarlane's calibre and not another Montague. There is indeed a lot of potential at Aviva if they get the right leadership.

Was mostly Av. long term holder until very recently when I bought some LGEN and MNG as well for a bit of balance. Been dipping in and out quite successfully but the dividend cut gave me the chance to reduce Av. by a third and I went back into LGEN yesterday and also got some AZN for the first time. Also got right out of HSBA earlier, taking losses which I will recover from much quicker in other stocks. I have some other targets in view when the chance comes. I don't want to be all banking and insurance in the coming months.

Guess they noticed I sold a third of my holding today.

The pressure is on now. I am out at the moment, waiting my chance.

Took profits from LGEN but kept MNG from which I could have taken profits. I see that MNG is recorded as going XD tomorrow still.

I might get back into LGEN if the price is right.
