Reduced my holding by over 80% because I don't like it when companies take orders from the state outside the law. It was lucky timing because there were bargains around to mitigate any losses. Still are.

2227, my concern is that the same is starting to apply to insurance, e.g. Aviva's capitulation over the dividend and the pressure being applied to LGEN.

I have recently reduced my insurance shareholdings accordingly altho' taking some measured losses that I expect to recoup outside the financial sectors.

All my bank shares went earlier this year.

It's good to see LGEN standing up for their independence. I hope they will continue to withstand the pressure and that Culmer can follow their example in future.

There are at least half a dozen coronaviruses, the common cold viruses, MERS, SARS and of course CV19, none of which can be vaccinated against.

It suggests there will be no vaccine in the workable future for CV19 and the only way to manage the problem is for us to wait for it to lose its virulence. The vulnerable will remain vulnerable unforunately.

Sold every banking share I owned. If AV. go down that road I will seek the exit. I have already reduced my insurance holdings considerably.

As regards the 'fewer accidents' not so sure as accidents happen everywhere, especially the home. Moreover, car drivers returning from a long layoff are more likely to have accidents once traffic gets back to its old ways due to lack of practice.

My main concern is how much effect a depression will affect insurance companies that are widely exposed to the global economy as opposed to specialised sectors whose recovery could be more rapid.

Not in the USA if Trump has anything to do with it! His latest is to cut external supply chains. That could be a double edged sword.

Emerging markets are in the Asia Pacific region and Shell has a lot of cash I believe.

Got a chunk at 1660. No regrets and it gets my average down.

We have to sit this slump out without despairing. Buy quality companies like GSK and it'll come good.

I see on the news that the M25 traffic levels are getting back to normal. I hope those nose-to-tail vehicles have HEPA but it must be good news for big oil anyway.

My decision to get into Shell very recently was taken with much the same kind of reasoning (see my posts). I'm sorry for those who bought more expensive but that's no reason to avoid Shell at this current level.

BP has reason to be worried when a major competitor strengthens its position.

The best hope is that AV. attracts a takeover bid but doubtless the board would defend their sinecure tooth and claw.
