At roughly that time Emma Walmsley, newly taking over, was confirming the continuity of Witty's refusal to split. She did promise to keep the option under review.

We rely on the current board to make the right decision; it's very unlikely Woodford influenced them but he could have been right.

I just bought at 1694 and I will probably regret it tomorrow. It could be a good time to have cash now.

It will remain trading stock until one day it won't be. I want to be on the right side of the equation when that happens!

SEE needs to develop its celebrity status. Is there anyone in the company who can sing or dance a bit?

Could resist the temptation to buy more of these at 399 first thing this morning. At least I haven't been punished (yet!).

399 looks a seriously good price if the results come good and the new Chairman isn't another dullard. Is that too much to expect?

There's no need to get all tribal about this, they aren't football teams!

I see no need to have just the one stock and so I have LGEN, MNG and AV. Recently I took profits from LGEN to buy AV. cheaply thanks to the imbalance in performance. I could do the same today but I don't want all my eggs in one basket.

For the moment I am not in PRU because of the Asian situation but I could return at some stage.

Pressure generally upwards now, it seems. I might look to get more on the drops depending on any profits I can take elsewhere.

The only face in the frame seems to be George Culmer who has been on the Aviva board since last September and who is also on the board of a couple of lacklustre banks and Rolls Royce Holdings - check them out if you dare.

If you want someone to light a fire beneath Aviva, I can see no sign this is your man for the job. To be fair he has apparently not shown much appetite for it anyway.

Unless the new appointee is truly inspiring I can see this share price doing nothing for a long time.

All the evidence suggests Montague had no choice but to go and that the company's current malaise is due to the climate of the decision-making process over which he presided.

Will Aviva get another establishment man or a genuine professional for his replacement?

Possibly a buying opportunity altho' it's best to remember stocks can only be traded when there are both buyers AND sellers!

About time, I'm sorry to have to say.

Certainly I have done ok by trading Aviva and taking dividends when they come round. It is not due to the stellar performance of the company over the years - it's just about as good as a ftse tracker which may be all they want?

Anyway Tulloch has his chance, let's see what he makes of it.
