Given the need for housing in the UK and moves by government to ease the conversion of commercial units into residential property, I wonder if the fall in the value could be overblown.

Must admit, this morning I bought more MNG.

Brokers have moved from buy but only as far as neutral. They are waiting on more news which is a gamble obviously.

Taking the long view, it seems now is good time to buy but there are no certainties in this game.

If they are REAL incentives we should be towed along in their wake like water skiers enjoying the ride.

At least the sp is keeping its head above the waves, unlike so many of my other misadventures.

By trading I have been steadily lowering the average price of AV. that I hold. Started buying them years ago and they are like the tide the way they just go up and down without a lot of variation and certainly nothing you could describe as 'growth'.

LGEN I first bought this year and I have a healthy profit. MNG I bought this month and also a nice profit.

Tulloch is starting to look like a deckchair attendant but not on the Titanic, that would be too exciting. Just a nice easy posting at say, Brighton or Bournemouth.

Seems the market is saying that.

But who wanted the job? The last incumbent was as good as it gets but they could not keep him. Why? What's the skeleton in the room?

.. to the market for two reasons:

1. it has given Aviva's management a kick in the pants and told them that poor performance will be noticed. Including any apparent indecision or lack of direction. They need that.

2. it allowed me to take profits on another stock and get AV. shares at a price that should rise in future. It also pays a better dividend which their performance suggests should be at least sustainable.

The company that made profits reported to date is the company run by the previous CEO. Maurice Tulloch has not been in charge long enough to claim the credit for that achievement.

It seems to me that investors see Tulloch as the easy option in place of the candidates who they could not attract, possibly because of how Aviva is regarded as a posting.

I have a significant proportion of my holding in Av. but I am not going to get starry eyed over the company and I will diversify out if opportunity knocks.

It does no harm to put salt on their tail now and then. Otherwise we would still have Andrew Moss in charge.

High Time Aviva management were called to account for the very lacklustre performance of Aviva, a company being left behind by its peers.

At the very least establishment time server Sir Adrian Montague should think on handing over the reins.

Got my slice of Aviva back and then some this morning.

Next I read that the Motley Fool rates them. Double finger cross needed.

Old news, I know but it doesn't seem to have impressed the market. I am thinking of buying more Santander to join the 2(two) shares I have left. Might leave it till the new year, if ever.

Yesterday a stock I have closed down at 220 - quite nasty fall. This morning 290. These things happen.

They say the market hates uncertainty; putting something up for sale and then having a change of mind might seem like uncertainty even if it is a good U-turn. In the longer term this might seem like one of those good buying opportunities but what might the company do next?

Still think a new chairman or woman is long overdue.

Might be time to buy AV. soon. I sold a tranche last week and bought into this one.

I see that HSBA is stepping up its effort to dominate the UK mortgage market:

I'm not sure I find that reassuring in these uncertain times.

Could be good for income and growth with a bit of luck. One to hang on or buy more of it gets any cheaper. Only in my opinion of course..
