Sorry for late late reply, first time I have looked in on this board despite owning a few TTE shares.

French shares attract a withholding tax of 30% except if held in a Frech investment package such as a PEA (like a UK share ISA). I have read that the withholding tax can be claimed back by non-French residents but am not sure how. Perhaps ask your fund manager?

Why is the tax so high? Because France wants to retain its gold medal standing among developed economies for tax take. And, to listen to the NUPES wing of the National Assembly, 100% of dividends from CAC40 companies should be taken by the state to cover the current pension crisis that allows some workers (state ones of course) to retire before reaching 60. Now what a brilliantly stupid idea that would be.

I have this in an ISA and the Tax is around 30%. I assume this due to a French tax and a UK tax. A UK tax is only 0% on UK shares. Not sure why it is so high but that is what it was on the last Interim dividend.
